We just got back from MGM with my 19 month old dd to see the Doodlebops!

My parents went this morning around 9:15a-9:30a to wait in line to get tickets to see the Doodlebops for us. At that time they were giving out tickets for the 1:15pm show.

We arrived at the ABC Theater around 12:30p to wait in line to get into the theater. My parents had been on line since around 12noon holding a space for us. We were about the 3rd or 4th family in line.

It was HOT, but it was bearable knowing that we would be inside an a/c theater shortly.

Well as they were getting ready to let us into the outside holding area of the theater--bunches of families started running up the steps cutting the families waiting in line. Managers tried to tell them to go on the line, and they refused to move.

Honestly, it was like I was in Penn Station getting on the 5:15p railroad out of NYC----CRAZY!!!!!!!! And there were little preschoolers about to be trampled!

So then we are standing in the outside holding area in the heat with no air/breeze just heat for 20-25 minutes---the theater was empty, we could see through one of the cracks in the door, but they refused to let us in---I honestly thought I was going to pass out from heat stroke or a panic attack being squished between all the families sweating their heads off---it was ridiculous, my dd was bright red from the heat, but there was no way to get out of the mob we were trapped in the middle of.................

The show was FANTASTIC! Very short--about 30 minutes tops, no bus driver Bob ( a little dissappointed in not seeing him), but a great show and my dd really enjoyed it................

But just want to warn those going to the next shows to be prepared for major crowds and heat before you get into the theater.

PS: Those families planning on the Wiggles Show--it is going to be at the Indiana Jones theater---outside-------prepare yourselves with fans, water, buckets of ice, etc............

We were going to try to see the Wiggles too, but after today, I am very satisfied we saw the Doodlebops and be happy with that.

Hope you all have a great visit!

For today's show, they had tables with black tablecloths covering them across from the ABC theater near Indiana Jones, and you waited on a long line and told them how many in your party and they gave you a ticket that said what time show, the date, and the # in your party.........

hope that helps..................

For Mickey's Magic Show last week, you had to go over to Lights, Motor, Action theater and they had tables set up there...........

Oh you lucky dogs!! I want to move to Florida just for this lol. We're the doodlebops oh yeah..... And don't get my son started on the wiggles- but he is all about Captain Feathersword. (he is only 18 months and runs around saying ARGH! pirate: ) Enjoy all the shows! About time they did something like this. I hope it becomes a yearly event. Then we would be able to plan a trip around it.

Okay- I have to ask because I am going down to see the DoodleBops- You have to have tickets? You may not even get to see them at all? We booked a super early flight so we get to see them and basically if I am not there at 9am to get tickets we won't be able to see them? :confused3 Please tell me this isn't the case. If it is I am going to be so mad! :furious: We booked this trip just for this purpose!!! I could have just bought concert tickets for home!!!

Thanks for sharing, I am worried about getting Wiggles tickets next week...but my daughter said she'd rather see the Wiggles than do anything else, even the Cinderella Breakfast. I just hope we get tickets on our first attempt so that we can go, enjoy the show and just be done with the craziness.

Secretly, I wish they came nearer to our home, I think I'd rather pay to see them at a normal concert!

Thats scary! Those are the things I tend to avoid. Ill try for the Wiggles but I refuse to be caught in total madness like that just to see some guys in suits sweating like crazy, just to skip 30.00 tickets at home. :guilty: Totally makes me mad when parents act like that, just to see some stupid show. Especially when there are thousands of other toddlers wanting to see it as well.

Mama House Mouse: They do have a stand by line that you can wait in if you are unable to get tickets for a show. But unfortunately, that line was very long---I do not know if every person in line was able to get in though.

My parents stopped at Guest Relations on the way out, just to share their experience and to comment on how it is dangerous to have that many people stuffed into a small area with no a/c with the way the heat has been this summer. The CM was very nice and said since this is the 1st year they are doing this, they are learning as they go along..................the CM also commented that "since the show was at Indiana Jones there was no a/c because the theater is outside"........which my responded to no the Doodlebops were in the ABC Theater................CM: "Oh, see we are still learning............."

It is a little unorganized, just bring your patience.........I hope you are able to see them...........when do you arrive in Orlando?

Hi,

How crowded do you all think the Imagination Movers will be? My daughter loves them, and that is when we are going. I know a lot of people have never heard of them, so I am kinda hoping it wont be as bad.

What do you all think?

What time did they start handing out the tickets? How long did your parents have to wait in line to get them?
Thanks!!

We went to the 2:30 show on the first day and it was very hot standing there I agree! It was fun though...

Are there seat assignments?

If the seats are assigned I don't see trying to swarm the door. If they're not assigned-they should be or am I missing something??? :sunny:

I also didn't realize that you had to get tickets first.

dumb question - where is the ABC Theater? Is that where Playhouse disney is?

I posted this on the tips board, so here is from my experience...

We planned a very special trip for the sole purpose of seeing the Doodlebops live, and we were devastated to find out that you had to have special tickets to see the show. They were free, but you had to arrive at the park before opening to get in line for the tickets. The tickets were handed out in 2 locations on the first day. In front of the ABC theater and in front of LMA. We learned from our mistake and arrived bright and early on the second day to get those highly coveted tickets. The tickets were only handed out at one location on the second day, which was located directly in front of the ABC theater.

I just wanted to let anyone know if they hadn't already seen, as I wouldn't want anyone to miss that special event because they were not there early enough to get a ticket.

where is the ABC Theater? Is that where Playhouse disney is?
No. Go into the park, take a left at the first intersection, stay towards the right and you will run into it. This is also the same place that you get your tickets.

Are there seat assignments?
No. They give out a certain amount of tickets per time slot and then it is first come first served. You must be there 30 minutes before showtime to be guaranteed to see the show WITH a ticket. There is also a standby line. We waited in this our first day and they average taking in about 20-30 people per show. The standby people go in after everyone else is seated, and seconds before the show starts.

What time did they start handing out the tickets? How long did your parents have to wait in line to get them?
I'm not the OP, but I got to the park at 8:00 and they let us in the park around 8:50. We started the mad dash to the ABC theater and got in line. They were giving out tickets at that time. I was #21 in line (the tickets are numbered). I waited about 15 min in line and then immediately went into the theater holding queue. I made it onto the second row dead center (they told us to go all the way to the left, but fortunately, I was on of many who ran to the middle and the seats filled from both sides)...

HTH!!!

Thanks so much!!! Because of all of these reports, we've decided to skip Wiggles Days at MGM (my kids aren't huge fans anyway), we'll go for Johnny and the Sprites (my 3yo LOVES him anyway)-- I doubt he'd have as big of a crowd as The Wiggles.

i just wanted to second the fact that if you want to see the wiggles, you better get there early for tickets. we saw the doodlebops on 8/20 and it was a madhouse. we got to the park a little after 10am and all of the tickets were gone for the day!!! we had seen mickey's magic show a few days earlier and walked right into the show without any urgancy for advanced tickets, so i guess we didn't think it would be extremely crazy for the doodlebops either. boy were we wrong!! we immediately got in the standby line and luckily just got in. many people were angry that they were not told before they entered the park that all of the tickets were gone for the concert. good luck to those seeing the wiggles & hopefully the indiana jones theater is bigger, so it will be able to handle the masses of people.

We just got back yesterday from Disney and yes we saw the Doodle Bops. We got t-shirts and a Dee Dee costume. The show was great! My granddaughters were bopping along with the Doodle Bops. We left our hotel around 8:15am. Arrived at park around 8:35. We got to the park at opening and my daughter was led by CM to where to get in line for tickets. I was getting the stroller. I had to wait to get into the park at 9:00 opening. I went to meet her and she was at the front of the line by then. We had our choice of shows. Yes, it was hot waiting before the show.

CM told us the park would open early, around 6AM for the Wiggles. They think people will start lining up around 5. The show will be at Indiana Jones which is not air conditioned. I guess because of the large number of people expected. We did not have trouble with one person getting tickets. They just wrote the number of people attending on the ticket. I hope this helps someone avoid disappointment.

so, if one didn't frequent these boards they wouldn't know to do all this, right? The ABC Theater isn't even labeled on the Disney-MGM map. And the magical beginnings official site doesn't say anything that I could find about getting/needing tickets. No wonder people were annoyed!

DH is going to kill me if we have to be at the park at 6am for the Wiggles - oh well after he gave in to going a day early just to see them it would be kind of silly to not go now - right??

I see a few of you went to see the Doodlebops. That's great. I have to agree, it was really unorganized. Great show though - I went to 14 of them. Any of you guys get stickers? I was passing them out at times to children waiting in line.
