Don't you wish Disney offered a moderate hotel with indoor corridors!

I am dreaming of a resort, not too large, beautifully landscaped and themed, with a great pool and hot tub, sit down restaurant, food court, entertainment in the evening and great bus service.

(not sure about the hot tub) but I think that describes what Port Orleans used to be.

We used to pay the extra to stay there but since the changes we go Value.

I enjoy the outside entry but then I cannot hear very well so that might make the difference. I do not want a longer walk down a corridor at the end of a long day of walking in the parks. Every step matters to me. LOL

I love love love wl ..the first time we had a deluxe room and while we did take the elevator we had to walk about a mile when we got off the elevator..also the cr we stayed in a suite and the walk to the building ..then to the elevator..then down the long hall to the room was endless after a long day at the park walking..both times staying at cbr and csr it just is so pleasant to walk outside..and I always got lucky and got a building close to the bus..I just always seem to get the room the furthest away from the elevator....

Yes, I wish a moderate had indoor corridors and was in the Americana theme like Liberty Square! :cool1: :flower:

what a great idea! I would love to stay at a hotel themed with Americana.

Ordinarily, I would not stay at a hotel with exterior-only entrances to the hotel room. We did this once, just to have a place to stay overnight on a long road trip. Granted, the area seemed a bit ominous because it was next to a building site and not well-lit, but it was a national chain. Just as we were settling in, I thought I heard something outside and DH quickly opened the curtains to see two very suspicious men standing by our door...and others a few yards away. We called hotel security (which was a joke) and left asap to check into our usual on-the-road preference--Courtyard by Marriott. Someone else had a good point that most national "moderates" have interior corridors and, in some cases, better amenities.
It was such a bad experience that we vowed never, ever to stay at a "motel" type place again...hated the feeling that if someone broke in, there was absolutely nowhere for us to go. Imagine my surprise when I planned our initial WDW trip and found out that NONE of the MODS had interior hallways. Luckily, this was when great, room-only codes were around, so we stayed at WL a few times.
Last year, we stayed at both SSR and POR and we felt very safe simply because of Disney's more secure environment (i.e. resort check-points). We actually LOVED POR and next year, we're going to try CBR. The whole exterior-corridor thing just wasn't an issue on-site.

that would be wonderful if AS offered 2 room suites..

Well, I took the plunge this fall and I stayed at POR.....originally was staying at POP but got a good rate at POR>

beautiful, beatutiful resort which I would not get anywhere staying outside the world at a hotel that had outside corridors.

Being that said...

ALthough the room was pretty and surroundings gorgeous....and very quiet...
I would not stay there again.

TOO TOO FAR from the main building. I got a cup of coffee quicker taking the bus to a park in lieu of walking to the main building.

It was a 10 minute walk to the main pool......

YUCH

I am thinking next time I will try POFQ because I know it is smaller and easier to manuever..

I loved POR for it's beauty but feel it lacks for people not staying in rooms closest to the main building

:confused3 :confused3 I just want some more moderate resorts to sleep 5 without having to pay for 2 rooms or stay at POR every time. I wish the standard rooms at CSR slept 5. We love CSR. I know it has to do with fire safety but they really are punishing large families.

We enjoy the outdoor corridors. Not big on the narrow, non ending corridors that smell of stale smoke, with trays sitting on the floor.........

As a single mom with DS12, I will not stay in a hotel with outside corridors. Even growing up, I don't remember ever staying in one. I guess it's just a safety/comfort thing.

But, this past April, we traveled with friends to CBR. Never even thought about it! We had connecting rooms in Martinique. I never felt safer! If you're like me, and always stay in nicer hotels, with inside corridors, etc., don't let CBR's openness keep you from going! Not only did it feel safe, but it was so quiet.

We are planning a return trip next year, and won't think twice about it!!

why are people on this board so testy?????

It seems to go in spells.....maybe it's the weather! :rotfl: Or the seasons change or the pressure of the upcoming holidays!!! :rotfl:

I agree! What gets me is, the OP of this thread just said they WISH the moderate resorts has interior hallways. They didn't go into a bash Disney session about how they 'deserve' them or that they are being 'cheated'....the OP said nothing wrong! Yet, there are folks who feel compelled to reply and say if they want these things they should stay in deluxe! And many of them are quite rude and for some reason defensive. :confused3 Why? What's wrong with wishing?!!?! :wizard:

That is ALL this thread is about....wishing :goodvibes I thought that was part of what Disney was about...wishing! Just because a person wishes something doesn't mean they are critizing the way things really are.

Heck, I wish I could win the lottery and be wealthy! That doesn't mean I hate my life now just because I am far from wealthy!!!

Why don't we all just get along? :grouphug:

We stayed in the Acadian building back in 2003 - and I honestly don't remember it taking us 10 minutes to walk to the food court - maybe closer to 5 minutes for us. The main pool was a little over halfway. And I'm saying this as someone who has trouble walking and we weren't walking fast. The surroundings definitely made the walk very relaxing after being in the crowded parks all day. Just my opinion.

I just wish people wouldn't think that outside corridors mean they can smoke anywhere they wan't, particularly outside a non-smoking room at a moderate resort.

We are hearing that Disney is converting some ground-floor rooms at the All-Star Music Resort into two-room suites to accommodate large families at the low-priced resort."

I think this is a great idea. I solves, however, only half the complaint. I know on other threads people worry about their 2 rooms being next to each other or having to put one parent in each room, so a suite set up would help them. But, on this thread the comments have all been about 2 rooms being expensive. If Disney turns 2 rooms into the suites I assume it will still cost twice as much.

I disagree with your choice of words. 99.9 percent of large families made a choice to have a family the size that they do. There is no "punishment".

Will you say you are being punished when you have to pay college tuition for all of your children? Or should any of them after the first two attend for free?

I think they might simply be adding interior doors to more rooms so they can better guarantee connecting rooms. You will still pay for two rooms, and they will be just that, two rooms, not a suite in the true sense of the word.

Really, though, the indoor corridor resorts aren't any safer than the outdoor types. It's not like the buildings are locked. They have the resort-key entries at the doors of the different GF or Poly buildings (for example), but no matter what time we've come in, we've never had to use our key card to enter. :confused3

Many of them are set to be open during the day but require the use of a card key at night to enter the building--like the side entrances of many hotels.

As I said in my post, it didn't matter at what time we came in -- even if it was very late at night, when one would have expected key card access to be mandatory.

Sorry I misunderstood. You're right, at night they should be locked. Was someone propping them open for some reason? Did you let the desk know?

Well there is a rumor that they are building family suites at the value resorts. I think it would be a great option because a lot of families have 3 or more kids.

They already have some test kidsuites set up.
