over thanksgiving, we were eating with my families. one group is going to WDW in FEBRUARY... maybe President's weekend. they aren't exactly sure. that is when their children (twins in K) are out of school for a couple of days. now they haven't made ANY reservations  - wanting to stay in delux... have meal with princesses.

these are family members of a step parent so we are not THAT close. but i was shocked to hear that they really haven't done anything. they want this to be special for the children. i am thinking to myself... MAKE SOME PLANS!!! their sister is telling them that she went several years ago without "plans"... but they just did whatever, whenever... which is fine. but probably hard to do with smaller kids.

now don't get me wrong. i know you can go and stay probably outside the parks, without having the exact meals you want when you want them, without reservations months in advance but i don't think they are wanting to do that. the mother is overwelmed at all the choices of things to do... which i understand. i tried to make suggestions but the dad said he had a sibling helping him. that his family went last year. WELL SO DID I!! DOES HE KNOW ABOUT THE DIS!!! is what i wanted to say but kept my mouth shut!!:rotfl:

anybody else come across this scenario...

My DGD's friends family wants to go in December (Yes this December) and they have not made any reservations. No hotel, no meals, no nothing! She has done this before a few years ago and it was fine. Fine, I ask?

They don't mind if they do not stay on site, don't worry if they do not get to Disney and will visit the "Other" park. I suggested the DIS, she says she is very good at getting information over the internet. Okay, I had nothing else to add.

You'll hear that they had a great time or you will hear that they were miserable. It will depend on their expectations. I would never be happy with a trip to Disney with no planning, they may be fine :confused3

The December one has me a little freaked, but the February one...not so much.

I just booked my AKL savannah bunk bed room about two weeks ago.

February is a (not slow but) slower time at the World, so it's a little easier to get ressies and ADR's.

The last time I went (2005) was in February. Didn't make ressies til December. Didn't make an ADR to CRT until mid January. Made an ADR at Fultons Crab House the night before. All was fine.

I'll be making a couple of ADR's for my next February trip within the next week or so. I love planning, but DH is a go with the flow type of guy. Luckily, February is a little slower, and it's more accomadating to us "flow" types.

We went for the first time last March during the peak Spring break time. I didn't know people planned vacations so far in advance. We didn't even start looking into it until the end of Jan. and we couldn't book until we got our bonus the second week in Feb.

I was reading on here about the 180 out and was so worried there would be nowhere to eat. When I called for reservations she told me I could get whatever I wanted except CRT. With a family of boys we were fine with that. We did have to compromise with times and maybe chose a lunch instead of dinner but it all worked out okay in the end.
