You get injured and don't know how it happened?

I started training again and have been doing ok. (work slowed down a little so I don't feel like such a slug for missing my training). Did 3 miles the other day and felt pretty good (even though it was 90+ degrees).

Yesterday I was getting ready for work. Was sitting on the side of the bed and stood up and felt the weirdest twinge in my knee. Not really pain, put just a strange feeling. Went to work and throughout the day it just didn't feel "right". At times it felt like it was going to "lock" and other times it felt week. Again, no pain, but just not right.

I took it easy last night. Some light riding on the exercise bike. Still feels weird today. I'm going to try to get a couple miles in tonight and hope it holds up and feels okay.

I didn't fall, twist, bang it or anything, so it's frustrating as to why it's acting up now. I told my sister it was sympathy pains for her  as she is scheduled for a knee replacement next week.

Be real careful with the knee when getting out. Might want to contact Dr. Good luck trying it out.

Usually happens to me with my back. Doing absolutely nothing and WAM, shooting pain.

I know why my knee is hurting right now but that doesn't make things any better.

At 75 miles of my 105 mile bike ride today I went on the sidewalk to hit the traffic light change button. Front tire went off sidewalk and got caught between grass and sidewalk. Slowly fell over onto right knee and rolled onto back winding up on my back on the sidewalk, left foot still attached to pedal and bike upside down pointing to the sky. Two nice areas of bloody road rash and knee smarting. Sprint triathlon next Saturday so hoping the pain will be gone before the event.

John - so sorry to hear about your fall. Hope you heal up quick in time for next week's race. Good luck!

I "literally" feel your pain!! But I know why my knee went on me!!

First off, I increased my miles way too fast - I went from one week doing 4 miles, the next week I did 5 miles and the week right after was 6 miles. Add that with my weak quads, a bum left knee :sad2:

So, I had to cancel, not one, but 2 races because of this- both were 10K's that I wanted to run for a good time to submit for the TOT 10-miler!! Grr!!

I'm trying to self-diagnose this as runner's knee - from everything I've found on the web, that is what it seems to be - but if after taking it easy and working my quads and its not better I will indeed get to the doctor. My cousin sent me an article on deep-water running that I want to try out later this week :thumbsup2

Sounds to me like you got runner's knee like me- a quick google search you will find TONS of info!!

In any event, hope your knee feels better soon

I would not 'self diagnose' but would rest, ice and elevate the knee as best you can this week. If the knee continues to present pain, get to a doc; especially if the 'locking' feeling continues.

Decided to pass on the run/walk tonight and give the knee a rest. It's weird because before I felt the twinge in the knee I was thinking how tight my hamstrings felt (in both legs). I tore the hammie of the leg with the sore knee 2 years ago. Hope it's not a recurring issue from that.

Can't afford any injury now (not that any time is good for an injury). Training for 2 halves, one in Aug. and then teh DL 1/2 Labor Day weekend.

Dang, Terri!

Sending you some pixiedust: pronto! Sounds like Coach Charles has some good advice to go along with it.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Susie.

Gave it a few days off. Today was the first day I didn't notice the "weird" feeling in it, so hopefully it'll be ok. If I survive the 103 temps tomorrow, I may go out for a run on Sunday and give it a try.
