Don't want to stay at SSR for 9 nights

We're going to WDW for F & W 10/10 - 10/19 & are booked at our home resort of SSR. We're taking younger DS & DDIL and need a 2 BD. I know it's still 6 months out and something might come up, but we're on a wait list for BWV for the last part of the trip. We are fine staying at SSR for a few nights, but would like to be close Epcot for some nights.

Any suggestions on getting BWV? Should we put in for Beach Club Villas? Go ahead and try for AKV, just for something different?

AKV particularly standards shoule be easy, but if you ant to be next to EPCOT what I do in pick one or 2 day chunks (at the end of when you want to stay) in a couple of different catagories an wait list for them and then I just call every day or 2 to see in any days are available in the timeframe I am looking for and pick them up piece by piece. It is extra work but needed due to the bizzar way DVC instituted the new waitles rules (I think there are at least 6 different 2BR catagories total for BCV and BWV).

I also wondered if you waitlisted for all 3 views at BWV or are you only wailisted for one? Also you could waitlist for the BCV (less of a chance here, but nothing to lose waitlisting). They have 3 levels (dedicated 2 choices) and (lockoff). If you waitlist for the AKV, I would think that one would come in first.

Also, if it's only 4 of you going, you could always just try for a one bedroom instead of a 2 bedroom, as your chances are always better for a one bedroom vs a 2 bedroom.

BC BC BC .. probably full as well.. but it is ideal for kids. Wait list this one too!

Also BLT is a monorail away too.. any thoughts there.

Checking AKV might be fun for a few days. If the others are all full, see if you can say stay at AKV 1st 4 or last 4. Split, if wait list comes through on on of the others AWESOME skip AK, but if not you at least have a different taste!

How could you do that now that we are only allowed 2 waitlists?

And why is it when I (just for fun) try booking a trip for 4 through Disney, asking for Boardwalk Villas, it gives me that choice, then I can even request a 2 BD at Beach Club Villas, yet as DVC owner, I can't get it? Do they hold back some Villas for renting through Disney Reservations?

Rooms available from CRO and rooms available for DVC members come from 2 separate inventories. CRO has rooms from points that DVC itself owns, member tradeouts and if any member rooms are available 60 days prior. For instance, if a member trades out for the Disney Cruise, a room is sent to CRO for rental to the public to pay for the cruise. DVC itself has rooms from unsold points, ROFR points or foreclosures that they rent through CRO. So the rooms you see on CRO online are not available to members.

Yeah - and I'm waitlisting at BWV, so I need to waitlist on the different views - you can't just tell them - "next available"! All I want is a 2 BD, I don't care much about the view (I prefer to not have a parking lot view, but I could deal with it, if I'm at BWV!)

Thanks for the inventory info, DebbieB.

If you absolutely don't want to be at SSR the whole trip I would book something else now that is available and interests you for part of your trip. And then keep the waitlist for BWV and waitlist in a couple of categories.

In that case, just waitlist the preferred view (non-BW view) at BWV and select another resort for your other waitlist. The preferred (non-BW view) is about 60% of the resort and the odds of that coming available would be easier than the standard or BW view.
