please dont panic just sharing what i heard nothing to ruin your trip or anything for you to worry about they are taking care of it. My mother works for the fedreal gov for the va and they had an inservice on bed bugs from an out side company that use dogs to sniff them out. They said that orlando and disney world are packed with them not sure if they are telling the truth i wouldnt think they lie to the fed gov. We are in new york so i dont know how this company knows if orlando and disney world would have them mybe the bed bug company like to talk but since disney use their own in house guys just weird. I just figure i share what i heard do not want every one to painic it could not be s bad as they say.

dont want to get in trouble but the company is called bell environmental the guy that came used to live in orlando and said that orlando and disney has a big problem but trying hard to take care of it. like other poster said that they see alot of interantional travelers. He said he taking his grand kids and he not unpacking anything in the room and getting dressed down stairs dont know what that means but if you see some one getting dressed in the bath room it proberly him lol. He did say that disney works real hard to keep it under control and not to worry but be proactive check the bed not just disney but any where. But new york has it alot worse they have have the major hospital contract in the city and he said they have a fleet of dogs and keep them busy all day. Now my mom want to train my dog to find bed bugs in the house but she just worry about her beds and let us get bed bugs.

your right i not saying that new york isnt a problem the nike store closed due to it their proberly more cases in new york then flordia. It sad that new york is the champ people who live in florida get to go to disney and we in new york get bed bugs go figure.

Sorry, I was not pointing fingers it is definitely happening everywhere.

Having dealt with these guys myself, a few words to the wise:

Imagine that every single hotel / motel / theater you stay or sit in has these bugs. Then plan accordingly. Of course WDW has these bugs - they have a ton of international travelers, and a ton of rotating customers using the same rooms. You can scrub all you want - you can't scrub these bugs out.

Always check your bed, sheets, corners of the rooms, pillows, and base of the bed. We always remove the sheets and search through the seams to verify there are no little creepy crawlies. Pillows come out of their cases, and pillowcases are examined inside out.

We do not unpack and put our clothes into the drawers. What can be hung up, is hung up. Everything else stays in the bag. NOTHING touches the floor except shoes. Covers never touch the floor, either. No exceptions.

We would probably bring double sided tape to put around the bed at a place at busy as WDW. Then, you can catch those bugs in the act of trying to eat you - as well as a few spiders here and there and other assorted, weird bugs in your bed. Yuck!

When you get home, unpack and put all clothes in the laundry immediately! Expect that you are bringing bugs home or going to get them on the plane; wash your clothes in the hottest water possible, and dry as hot as you can.

It costs thousands to exterminate the little buggers, not to mention throwing away and re-purchasing mattresses, carpet, and furniture. Also, there are a lot of scary mental things that happen with these bugs. Be alert, and you won't bring the things home to live with you.

I was at Walmart today and they were selling an allergy/bed bug mattress protector. Supposedly you won't get bed bugs in your mattress and box spring if you cover them with the protecter. There was a pillow one too.

Just something to contemplate getting for at home.
