Don't make my Target gift card mistake!

I was at Target today and received $300 worth of Target gift cards for iPad deals. Since I was there, I figured I would just buy the Disney cards there, where I knew they would be in stock. I thought I'd read that people had done this successfully, and got the 5% red card discount as long as they used their red card as part of the transaction. Well, it didn't work, and so that was $15 I could have saved, but didn't! It's my own fault; I should have just did it online. I realize now that in-store, people are just paying directly with their red card. I thought it would work like it does online, if the red card is the "default" method. Learn from my mistake!

Look at it this way- There is no risk of those cards you now have getting 'lost' in the mail. Might be worth the peace of mind in having it done and safe, to lose a bit.

Also, you won't have to worry about them showing up unactivated, which seemed to happen a lot last year.

That's right, in stores, you only get the 5% discount on the amount you actually charge to the REDcard. The discount does not apply to the whole transaction.

I think she paid with Target gift cards, not realizing the only way you can get the 5% off and pay with gift cards is to do the transaction online.

Yes, I'm definitely fortunate! Right now, I'm "addicted to the deal," no matter how much it costs me

I won't ever order them through the mail again. I had two separate gift card transactions that were lost during shipping (they're sent to UPS which then delivers them to a post office somewhere to be delivered through the mail). The 5% savings isn't worth the hassle!! It took months to get it straightened out and that was just to refund my money. I still ended up having to buy the cards in the store. I'd say you did really well
