We have a trip to Disney the third week of October, and I told my boyfriend that I would consider going to Halloween Horror Nights. I (26) have not been to a haunted house since I was 12 or 15. I am very nervous, and wondering how rough it really is. I do scary movies, and like them.

Also, does it get a little out of control? With the alcohol and younger demographic?

Thanks for the help,
Jenn and Dave

Its fine. You'll like it. Alcohol doesnt really get out of control. The young punks that litter the parks.......yeah, thats a different subject altogether.

As with any event, you will get a few people who get too drunk and get out of control but they truly are few and far between. The parks are so well-staffed during this peak time that the first sign of anything unwelcome usually has people ousted. As far as the younger demographic goes.... yes, they will annoy you some, that's just the sad truth of it. But it definitely shouldn't be enough to keep you from going.
If you like scary movies, you'll like this. Just remember that the scarers aren't allowed to touch you and you'll be great. Have fun!

Hey Jenn, I'm the same! Even the Haunted Mansion scares me so HHN should be fun...

We decided to go for at least 2 nights - I just think it will be an awesome thing to experience. What swayed it for me was The Thing house. I know it's going to scare the living whatsits out of me but it's got to be done!

Hope you have lots of scary fun :scared1:

You will love it! I make DH go throught the houses first so I can hang on to him, but the scareactors always seem to jump at me, guess its pretty obvious that I am a chicken!:rotfl2:
There is alcohol served there, but I didn't see anyone out of control, just lots of folks having a great time!
I love it and wish I were going this year - but am definately going back next year! :)

Thanks for all the feedback. Looks like we are going. He is very excited. I am sure it will be a blast.

HHN is quite scary, we've been going every year since 1994! I am a chicken, but just remember and keep saying to yourself, "they can't touch me!" The scaractors will jump out at you but can't touch you. After the first few houses, you'll get desensitized and it won't be so bad! Also in all the years I've gone I have seen very few drunks. I think that Mardi Gras is worse in terms of drinking.

I'm a big chicken - I love watching scary movies as well, but I jump at EVERYTHING. I just hold my FI real tight & scream in his ear ;)

Funny but I've never been scared at HHN. I stopped going b/c I wasn't scared and my brother was just bored with it. Gorey, noisy, packed with people but never really scary. In fact, I usually got so mad b/c you couldn't really visit all the houses in one night due to the number of people there. However, I used to work haunted houses as an actor and tour guide so I guess I just got used to all the effects and things. I think the scariness of it wore off over the years.

Nothing will scare me unless they have those stinkin' stilt walkers. One of them scared the pants off me at the Mummy...I had no idea he was right behind me and nearly jumped out of my skin. DH stills makes fun of me over that. HHN ain't even gonna come close!
