Don't laugh... Weird boat rental question

I see that you can rent 2 sweater sea racers from all of the MK area hotels and drive them in the bay lake and lagoon waters. Yet, I've read several posts about there being alligators/crocs in the water in Florida. What happens if you fall off the sea racer or it tips? Are you alligator bait?

Yep! Nom Nom!

I kid. For the most part there aren't many gators in the Lagoon or Bay right there. Plus, if you do fall out you'll hopefully have someone around to pull you back in to the boat.

The sea raycers are essentially unsinkable and you would have to be doing something really stupid (like jump out) to fall out of one. You sit down in them, and they don't go super fast. They are a lot of fun, but nothing a grandparent couldn't handle. The greatest risk is sunburn.

We lived in FL and saw gators all the time (ponds in our community) and along the road near ponds. NEVER once saw a gator on Disney property except at the very edges before you come into "town" and they were well off the road and away from any populated location.
I'm sure if Disney felt a gator was getting too large for anyone's safety or just to keep people from being frightened, they'd have it moved.
Like previous poster said, you'd have to be horsin' around pretty badly to fall off your ride. Best not to do that in any case. And I also think that snakes would be a bigger scare to me. So I wouldn't be messin' around.

We were staying at fort wilderness and my husband caught a baby alligator in the pond there. The cm working told him they knew he was there and would be moving him soon!

There are gators in Disney! There was a little guy just hangin in the water along the wooden walkway between Liberty Square and Splash Mountain. He was pretty cute. But Disney keeps an eye on them and moves them when they pose any kind of threat. At have to agree, poisonous snakes are a bigger concern ... Though I wouldn't spend time worrying .... I don't remember ever seeing reports of anyone dying from wildlife on Disney property.

There are gators in the lake bordering the MK resorts. That's one reason they stopped letting people swim in the lake years ago.

But it's obviously not a huge threat- otherwise they wouldn't let you rent boats!

Yes there are gators in the waters on Disney property - and snakes as well. That being said the gators do not like the sounds of the boats and tend to stay away from the "busy" waterways that the boats and water mice travel. Had one of the boat captains from the Port Orleans shuttle tell me that back where they service the boats there are tons of gators but they pretty much stay away from the main waterways.

1) Don't worry.
2) There are several "life guard" patrol boats on duty.
3) If you fall overboard and alligators are near,
. . . the patrol boat will approach for assistance
. . . they will calmly and expertly tell you to swim away like crazy
. . . and will watch vigilantly as you try to escaped the gator

The only way you would ever fall out of a Sea Raycer is if you jumped out.

Another safety tip: Never smile at a crocodile.;)

Though there was the small child of a Dis'er a few years back who was pretty sick from a bite he got at his resort. His toy fell just off the path, he went to get it, and was bitten.

I heard you will be able to FP+ Tick Tock the Croc chasing you like Captain Hook next fall. It must be true, a bus driver said so, lol.

Seriously though as a PP stated, these things are as close to untippable as you will find.

Someone correct me but I don't think an alligator is going to make a mad rush at a "plop" in the sea thinking it's a human and it's lunch or dinner time. It's kind of like a bird finding a McDonald's fry, dropping it outside an office window and then having a human bounding down the stairs to eat it.
