Has anyone ever taken a ride over to Kennedy Space Center? We are thinking of heading over there for a day after our time in WDW in April. How long does it take to get there? Any trip reports? Is it worth it?

I did it a few years ago and it was great.

Needed the whole day, there was a heap to see.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and am going back with the family in Oct

We did it. I found it took us a bit over an hour to get there. I thought it was worth it and everyone in our group had a great time (adults and teens). If you have young children they may not find it as interesting. My mom had been before so she stayed back at the rental home with my niece, who was 3½ at the time. She definitely wouldn't have enjoyed it! My son, who was 14 at the time (now 16) wants to go back again. He really enjoyed it.

If you have enough extra time I would do it. We were there for 16 days so it was on our must do list that trip.

I've been there many times. You really do need a full day to experience it. The Shuttle Launch Experience is a great ride (simulator), there are two omnimax theaters, lots of shows and exhibits, and great food & shops.

Then there's the bus tour. That alone can take 3-5hrs, depending on how long you stay. The Apollo center alone can be a 2hr investment.

It's about a 45-60 min drive from the Orlando area, but if you have the chance to see it, DO IT!

Thank you all for your responses! My daughter is 12 and is really loved the unit they did on space in science this year. We're going to give it a shot! Thanks again!

We have taken several trips to the Kennedy Space Center and it is definitely worth the trip!!!

It takes us a day and a half each time to fully enjoy everything it has to offer. For the full day, we arrive at opening and stay until closing.

About a 35 minute drive from Orlando Intl. Airport (MCO).

I was forceably drug away from the parks to KSC few years ago & loved it!

if you work it in, i highly recommend booking the one of the earliest departing backstage tours that deposit u @ the apollo center afterwards:thumbsup2. We did the today & tomorrow tour:cool1:. You then can return & work your way thru the rest of main complex. We never did get thru it all, was nice to take our time poking around instead rushing in the parks.

if driving from WDW area, take the greenway, missed most of traffic & will deposit u out on beeline to coast.
