Dislaimer: I realize that there are lots of families that have it way worse than we ever did, so please don't misconstrue the intent of this post- which is simply to share our joy!
I thought the people in this forum would understand this best.
As our trip gets closer and closer, every day I just want to cry with joy! We have 4 dc, we started saving for DW when our oldest (now 8yo) was 2yo. Every year something happened and we had to use our DW money. One year our home was flooded and we lost a lot of our belongings, another my h lost his job, another one of our dd's got very ill, another I had to have surgery, etc etc.
When I was pg with our son in Fall of 2003 we had the money saved for all but 2 tickets, and we're going to ask for those for Christmas from my parents. Then another company bought the small company my h worked with, took the code he wrote for the programs they needed, and shut his office down, firing everyone. We used what extra $ we could, but the time came when we had to use our DW savings for food. Our oldest (then 6yo) saw her Daddy walking out of the house with the bag of DW money. She was so sad, and begged her dad not to take it to the banks are.
2 years later, God used those circumstances to provide my husband with a great job in a much less expensive area, and therefore a more spacious house with an actual yard for the 4 kiddos to run in- AND DW tickets are actually bought and paid for, with three weeks left to go!
