I know that you can book a room without having the AP yet. I also know that you can ckeck-in using just your voucher (as long as you bring the actual AP back to the front desk when you trade your voucher in). BUT - my question is a little more complicated. I booked our WL room for our Jan 2003 vacation with the AP rate.....we plan on getting an AP on our very 1st day at WDW.........BUT, we are upgrading Park Hoppers, so I can't get the voucher ahead of time (I have to upgrade at the parks or DTD). I wanted to check-in 1st & then go to MK for the evening & do our upgrade while we are there .....then when we come back to our room on night 1, I will show the front desk our AP. Has anyone ever done this? Do you think this would be ok? I can always stop at a park ahead of time to do the upgrade, but if I could avoid that hassle after a 17 hour drive I would be very happy!:D

Most/Many report that they are never even asked to show their AP/voucher. If it were me, I wouldn't worry about it. If the CM at check in asks, I'd just explain that as soon as we finish checking in, the first thing on our agenda is to go to the MK to get our APs. I'd also offer to stop back and show it to the CM. I just can't imagine that you will have a problem. FWIW, if for some crazy reason the CM isn't OK with that, you could always say "OK, we will go to the park now and get the APs and then come back and check in". I just can't imagine that a Disney CM would make you do that!

Enjoy your trip!

I tried to get a discount with AP(which I haven't purchased) and the CM told me I needed to have my AP.
What did you do to get the AP discount is there a code to use before you buy your actual AP?

They don't ask for anything, they just say you need your AP at check-in. Why don't yo try again?!!;)

When I called CRO I just asked for the AP rate and they gave it to me. I then had to check to make sure I could just just show my voucher when I checked in and she said I could.

I have never had to prove I have an AP at the time I call or check in. But that's not to say they won't ask.
Last year, I even called ASMu to check to see if just having my AP voucher was okay. I was told no, that I needed the actual pass.
We took a chance, as we didn't want to run to a park just to validate our passes.
No one ever asked about AP's at check-in, or any other time during our stay.
I had some friends who a few years ago booked with their DC card rate. They forgot their card. But it didn't matter. No one ever asked to see it. (CSR, January '01)
I would just chance it, and then explain if you have to, if they ask at check-in.

Can any help? Will I need to hire a car seat for my 4 yr old this year when we visit wdw?

Many thanks, Maria:Pinkbounc
