Hi Everyone,

I recently got engaged while in Vegas and we are currently planning our wedding. We are almost 90% sure it will be in Disney :thumbsup2

Anyways, We both don't have anyone who is close enough to us to be our MOH or BM. Most of our friends from school have gone their seperate ways and there is no one at work we are close enough with. We are both also, only children, so it's not like we can ask a sibling.Has anyone else been in this situation??? It really doesn't bother me and I don't feel right asking someone just for the sake of having one.

Any advice??? :confused3

Thanks

I have 9 siblings (10 including me), so I can't relate to the only child thing! :rotfl2:

But, I don't think you should ask someone just because you think that you have to. You should do what's in your heart. Period.

However, have you considered your parents? Are you close to them (like friends)? They might be a good choice to stand up for you if you'd really like to have someone. It might seem unconventional, but who cares?

It's something to consider...

I can totally relate, as im travelling from the UK none of my friends are able to make it, and to be honest im not sure if i would have asked them anyway. We are both only children aswell. We have asked my mothers goddaughter to be our bridesmaid - shes only 9. I wont have a MOH though.

Do you have any family members that you are close to? I was in the same boat as well and asked my goddaughter who happens to be my cousin to be the MOH. We are only having a MOH and a BM,that's it. We wanted a small wedding with a big reception. Good luck and Best Wishes! :sunny:

If you dont have anyone that you feel close enough to ask to be your MOH or BM, then dont. If Im not mistaken, you dont need a MOH or a BM. Their primary job is to serve as witnesses. You can each have a parent serve as a witness. I would not ask someone just to have someone.

Thanks everyone :goodvibes I feel much better!! I just needed to be reassured that I'm not the only one in this boat.

You're all the best :disrocks:

You don't even need witnesses in Florida, if you do decide on a Disney wedding, it's just a formality to have witnesses sign for you, not a legal issue.

We had my niece, who is my Goddaughter and the light of my life, as our "all around attendant." She was technically my MOH but she was also ring bearer and best man and she did a great job :goodvibes When DH's best friend couldn't come to the wedding we thought about replacing him with another friend or my brother but we decided there was no one else close enough to DH to be BM so we didn't have one and it was fine. Do what feels right for both of you.

Best Wishes!!

We didn't have anyone stand up with us. I did have an unoffical matron of fun, and a slave of honor. But we didn't have anything offical. My best friend was pregnant during all the planning, so I didn't want to bother her with the hassle of wedding stress, so she became my matron of fun. Her only offical duty was to drag me on rides. My mom became the slave of honor, she got all the 'joys' of planning. She was wonderful, and we had a lot of fun. My best friend did throw me a shower but it was a total suprise, and I honestly wasn't expecting it at all. If you don't want honor attendants then don't have them. At the wedding Rev. Day just had our mom's sign our marriage certificate as witnesses.

I'm not having a MOH just 2 bridesmaids my sis & best friend...no competition then.

When DH and I got married, it was just the two of us...no attendants/parents/no one! We married in a chapel off-site, and the chapel owner served as our witness. She just stayed in the back of the chapel, played our music, and signed the marriage certificate afterwards.
