Don't hate me if I have Express Pass and/or FOTL pass

Interesting. We are staying at HRH for our first visit to Universal. I did not consider doing anything else when I read about the FOTL pass. I was explaining this awesome deal to my in-laws and they told me it wasn't fair of us to do that when there would be people there who wouldn't know anything about how to get it. I love researching vacations and feel like these deals are my bonus for doing the research!

Unfortunately this attitude is common. I've heard many people complaining on various boards about how FOTL is unfair and makes the lines longer for those who don't have it.

I have a friend who still considers FastPass to be an abomination and refuses to use it, on the grounds that it's unfair in some way to those who don't have one. And that's FP, which is freely available to all WDW Guests! His true wrath is reserved for the on-site perks like free parking, package delivery, and especially EMH. I haven't broached the subject of Universal's FOTL feature; I'm afraid he'd have an anurism.

The way I figure it, getting more for paying more is not unfair, it's the way things are supposed to be. After all, how many people think it's unfair that airlines have First Class and Coach sections?

I am just waiting though ... there is always the Disneyfile who will find her way over here and comment on how those of us with "FOTL"/Express passes will "gloat" at those in the stand-by line (simply because we have the nerve to use what we are entitled to) and then complain that Disney's FP system is more "fair" because it's available to everyone for free. Should we put a pool on how long it takes for one of them to start in? :teeth:

Well i'm not sure if i'm a disneyfile or not, but i definitely believe in taking advantage of any perk available. That's why we're staying onsite at RPR for the first leg of our disney DVC trip this year  a good deal is a good deal no matter where u go ;) :Pinkbounc

I've gotten looks and comments at WDW using fastpass, and at US/IOA using FOTL too...
I don't care...if someone didn't study up on how best to enjoy their vacation, it's not my fault!

Any kind of front of the line access programs are an abomination, imho, and the fact that Universal has theirs as a special promo for the hotels, and they charge, really ticks me off. It gums up the line and causes a normal standby line to be even longer. Do I use it? You better bet your booty I do. Like someone else said, you have to know how to enjoy your vacation, and if that abomination is going to help me do it....well, I'll do it....but I wont like it, much. :sad2:

Commoners are able to buy express tickets for a lot less than staying onsite. That is what DW and I are planning on doing. Granted, you can only ride the ride once per ticket ... but can you buy more than one ticket per person. The express tickets seem cheap in Dec, when we are going. I only care about riding them once (I am lucky to get DW on them at all.)

On the express tickets, does it say what ride on each ticket? Example, I won't be riding the MIB, is that mean that the ticket would be a waste? Or can I exchange that to Cat in the Hat ride, so then my children and I can ride it twice?? Just curious.

We usually stay onsite for the FOTL and for the fact that the parks are very accessible by walking/boat or bus. And we love staying onsite for the themeing. RPR is our favorite btw.

Yes, I believe on the back of the ticket is the name of the ride. You hand it to the attendant and they mark it off.
