You never know when that ADR you want is going to pop up. We have the QSDP on our upcoming August trip so I had no plans of making any ADR's 4 months ago when our time opened up. I don't know what I was thinking as I KNEW DS would want breakfast or lunch at BOG. Silly mom, right? Fast forward to last Friday-71 days out. I'm procrastinating at work, reading Disboards and get a wild hair up my rear. I said to myself "self, log on to MDE and just TRY for BOG. Don't stress it, just look." I log in and start plugging in our dates, checking availability for both breakfast and lunch for each day of our trip. Lo and behold, there's an open slot for an 8:15am PPO breakfast halfway through our stay! I booked it right away and keeping checking other dates. Nothing else to be had.
DS was making lists of FP+ for me over the weekend and asked if we were eating at BOG again this trip. I looked him straight in the eyes and lied to his face. "Sorry kiddo, I know you love it there but it's a really hard reservation to get. I've been checking and checking but haven't been able to get one. It's not looking likely sweetie."
Yes, I LIED TO MY KID. It's not the first time either. I lied to him about the same thing last year and surprised him with a PPO BOG breakfast. One of these days he is going to catch on to mom's lying face and call me out on it but until he does, I'll continue to enjoy the sparkle of pure joy when he gets surprised.
Today I had another conversation with myself. "Self, go look again. Maybe, just maybe something opened up for lunch." Well, self was RIGHT and not one but TWO BOG lunches were available. I could not believe my eyes. I'm going to have to pack him extra unders because this kid is going to mess his pants when he finds out.
Moral of the story - DON'T GIVE UP. You never know when you'll have the perfect timing and be able to snag that ADR you've been tracking.
