I am a passholder and a FL resident and all around Disney girl but.....I just spent 2 days at a Universal hotel (I honestly felt like I was cheating!) but since we were going to a concert at the Hard Rock I just thought I would try it well.............I cannot say enough good things about the Hard Rock Hotel, I have had a few issues the last few times at Disney with housekeeping and getting shipped to another hotel etc etc. My room was beautiful, I didn't have to beg for toiletries and even had stuff besides a bar of soap and a shampoo! The place was immaculate, the staff was very professional and quite honestly they will probably be getting some more of my business! I also like the fact that I don't have to wait to get a FL discount like Disney does releasing them in blocks, I know that is not something everyone can get anyways but for the money I paid I would have been at a moderate at Disney and the Hard Rock was miles above that.

We absolutely love the HRH too. We usually do a split stay so we can have front of the line priveledges and then switch over to WDW. Still gotta have my Disney fix, but you are right, that hotel is great and their pool is FAB!

We love HRH also. You can't beat the short walk to the parks and the FOTL access. We normally head down in May for 6 or 7 days at WDW and then head over for a 3 day weekend at HRH.

I had looked into Universal Hotels, but even with Fl. resident I'd pay alot more staying there per night?? They do look great and being we're going to do the Studios one day, the express lines sound good, but boy you pay for it!!:) :confused3

I looked into it for a small trip but it was just way to much for us even with the specials. I just can't see paying that much to put your head to rest.

If you paid what we pay for a Mod then you really made out and I would jump on that in a heartbeat.

We will do US/IOA this fall or winter as it's our between WDW/AP year so I hope for a discount or off-sight here we come.

I love Disney and Universal, having great stays at both places. The Hard Rock was really nice but the club level is terrible when compared to Concierge at Disney.

From everything I have read the Universal hotels outclass the Disney Deluxe hotels. (maybe not concerige, but you are PAYING for that)

This goes back to one of my posts a week ago or so that I feel that a lot of the Disney Deluxe hotel rates are out of line for the quality of the product. Locations is nice but not that nice! (My favorite was for the price of a suite at the GF you could get a deal at the Ritz with a suite and Mercedes for your use LOL! Not sure that deal still exists, but .....)

Well if you got a room at the Hard Rock for the price of a Disney moderate, you got a steal of a deal... We have had 2 stays there, 1 at the club level and one in a standard room, the club room stay was not a memorable one in spite of the premium price we paid for the room and the concierge service and lounge was almost a joke (not much of either). The other stay was fine, but in no way exceptional, not up to the Loews hotel standard IMHO.

However we did have a totally awesome stay on the club floor at the Royal Pacific...it was on a par with any Disney deluxe concierge level, and when you pair that with front of the line privileges it was a great few days.

I guess my main issue is I am just not wild about Universal!!

I don't think of HRH rates as comparable to a mod either but....... If you just went to Disney and could not book in time to get a FL resident or passholder code, a mod rack rate for standard room is 145. If you went during the week in Jan on FL rate to HRH you'd be at 149 + parking fee for standard view. Those $$$ are comparable and the HRH comes out way ahead with what you get. I'd never pay Disney rack rate during value season, though, would head offsite before that. Well, I did pay rack rate once - 155, but that was to get free dining and decided it was worth it.......

Glad you liked HRH! Can't wait to try it myself after a few RPR nice stays.
