Don't forget about the Tampa airport

We are traveling from Boston over Veteran's Day weekend and I was shocked at the price of airfare from either Boston or Manchester NH to MCO. I had never seen such high prices. I thought it might be because of the holiday weekend or the fact that we had firm travel dates of Saturday to Saturday. It almost made us reconsider our trip. But we checked out the flights on Southwest from Boston to Tampa by traveling a little further (we were going to rent a car anyway) we are saving over $700 :cool1:. Ticket in the $90 range!! Car rentals seem a little bit more expensive, but still doesn't compare to the savings on airfare for our family of 5.

We've flown into/out of TPA several times. Its a very easy airport to get to and to find your way around.

If you're renting a car anyway the only drawback is the slightly longer drive from the airport to WDW. MCO to WDW takes about 30 minutes, while TPA to WDW takes about 75 minutes.

Also, for those in the Boston area, don't forget to look at PVD for your flights. We are also flying over Veterans Day weekend and found prices out of PVD much better than BOS.

We are flying into TPA and flying out of MCO this time. Prices, dates & times just worked better for us. We've not been to TPA so I'm interested to see how it compares to MCO. Guess I'll get to compare both this time.

We flew Boston to Tampa in April and the fare was much less than Boston to Orlando. The rental cars are easy to access and the drive to Orlando was no problem.

After our last trip I've sworn to only fly into Tampa when we visit WDW. Flying is stressful enough without having to go through the hell that is MCO.

We'd made a big mistake with our luggage and didn't find out until we went through security. My husband didn't hear me tell him to check a big duffel bag full of toiletries. Shampoos, soaps, you name it. A nice jar of salts from Basin. I'm certain had we been at MCO, they would have held us up forever fixing that mistake, but at TPA, it was no big deal and it all went smooth as silk.

Plus, as we were sitting waiting for our flight, we heard them making jokes over the intercom system every once in a while. Our flight was to Pittsburgh and they were trying to tell us different Steelers were sitting nearby. Just things like that made it such a nice experience.
