Don't FALL, now Hakuna Matata Team!!!

Good morning,
I'm back from a nice 8k run. Couldn't ask for better weather: 50 degrees, sunny no wind and no traffic on my country road. I must say I love this time of the year. I'm going back to work saturday evening after a 2 weeks vacation. I need the money because I just bought a HD TV. I can't wait to watch the Patriots game on Sunday.:happytv:
Have a nice day and enjoy the nice fall weather.

Diane, sounds like life is good:goodvibes

I had a nice workout this morning also. I had one person show for my class and we did intervals around the tennis courts. Turned out to be a surprisingly good workout. Then of course the stretching and strength exercises.

Hope everyone's everything feels better today.

Happy Panda.:hippie:

I did a quick and easy 3-miler at an 8:45 pace. I was planning on doing some strength training but I don't think it'll fit in my schedule today so it'll probably get pushed to Saturday with my cross training.

Best,
jennifer

Hi All.

Connie, Mark did some more miles for you tonight. He's a walking machine..

We did our usual 5. It's quite pleasant here in NH right now but tonight will be our first threat of frost. May have to close a couple of windows and even put one of my many quilts on the bed. Snuggle weather :lovestruc  :rolleyes1

Another full weekend ahead but will get some miles in for sure. May try to do more than my usual 5 as it will be cooler.

Working on Miranda's wedding quilt in between working and walking but like anything else, set a goal and meet it.

Hope all of you are losing at least inches and ounces - one step at a time.

Detroit is only 30-days away - even though I am not going for time I do not feel prepared. All my walks since I had this foot problem have been short ones. Will try for a longer one on Saturday :upsidedow

Scott & Lynn -great progress on the basement project :thumbsup2

Margie, sorry I just got home from work and I'm brain dead. Is that a half or full you are doing at Detroit?

Good luck either way, you will do great you are strong and determined.

Denise, yep, our goals are our promises to ourselves and we should not take them lightly.

Wow Jennifer you are so fast.:cool1:

Scott and Lynn, fix our guest room up nice now. We will be headed up there one of these years.

Connie, feel better sweet captain.

Have a restful evening y'all.

Hello team! I'm a busy, busy bee lately. Today I have to carpool with Jordan to work then hopefully get out a little early because I have a wedding to go to. I'm scheduled til 5, but the ceremony is at 5:30 and it's an hour and a half drive to get there. Here's the bride and groom...my great friend Ben and his lovely lady Sabrina:

I won't get to run today, but I'm planning on 4 miles tomorrow night (after another long day of work) and 3.5 miles on Sunday...followed by (my last long run before the half) of 10 miles on Monday.

Dave - We miss you lately...you are one busy man!!

Margie - I remember waiting for my dad at the Detroit Free Press finish line when I was a little girl. I actually was in the paper with my mom because it was cold and rainy and she had me all bundled up so cute that they took a picture. :goodvibes Anyhow...I'd love to run it some day to make my dad proud...we need a full race report!!

Diane - Nice to see you again! Out of curiosity...do you like football on your own or was it after a mans coaxing? My DBF is trying so hard year after year to get me to enjoy Browns games with little luck. I got into it by the end of last year, but it fell to the wayside.

Jennifer - What kind of cross training and strength training do you do?

Scott/Lynn - You guys have inspired me to get moving on our bedroom. We have had very stubborn wallpaper that we could not get off. Tried DIF, tried, vinegar water, tried fabric softener...nothing works. We just end up gauging the drywall. Well, we have decided to buy a steamer and see if that works. Then we will need to skim over the gauges, prime and paint. Ugh. You guys make home improvement seem easy!

Vicky - How's that hip? Mine was hurting pretty bad after my 6 miles yesterday.

To the rest of the team...stay strong!!
-Eva

Eva, when we were doing the living room, patience was the best method for removing the wall paper. A lot of hot water, after scoring and then wait. We tried all the stuff you mentioned - not the fabric softener but I was so ticked one day, I took out my steam iron and used it on the walls. In some areas it seemed to help in others - nothing. We are finally wallpaper free!

Good luck, have fun at the wedding, cute couple!

Eva, I love your attitude, of saying a guy and his lady. I agree our gals are ladies and our princesses. This world is a pretty hard place sometimes, our princesses are the love and softness we guys so desperately need to give us the courage and strength to carry on day after day.

Those of us who are lucky enough to have our princess accompany us in our races are double blessed.

Hello everyone, I'll check in later after the gym today.

Have a super morning y'all.

See if I remember it all:

Margie - you will do well be strong in mind and the body will follow.

Diane - good ot see ya back now I have a Tour person to speculate with on Lances return.

Eva - as Denise said Steam for sure - Also texturing a wall helps cover those gouges.

Denise, we definately want to see the quilt well at least a pic. My family are adn were big quilters.

Jennifer, your are a fast one and an inspiration, way to go.

Dave our stalwart sage. Where is Erica we miss her. Full moon so she might be busy at work.

Vicky and Connie hang in there.

Got in 3.4 miles this morn, might take tomorrow off as we haev about 200 sf of floor tile to put down. Film at 11:00. Weather is forcast for rain and then get a long run in sunday morn before we grout hte tile. Might trim out an exposed beam in the theater room.

Long day at work I forsee getting ready for Columbus.

Later kids.

Good Morning Team!

Did not get any walks in yesterday - spent from 9am to 5:30pm in basement staining! Today, the dogs and I will get for a walk, then we need to prep the floor of the basement for tomorrows tile - scraping off all the plaster that accumulated from taping the drywall, then texturing the walls. Once that is done, it should really cut down the dust in the basement, and I can clean up the rest of it without thinking that the dust will just settle back as soon as I am done! I still have quite a bit of staining to do, but I have finished the high parts of the bookcase so that we can take out the scaffolding - would not want to run the scaffolding over newly layed tile, and I have done the kick plates. I still have the lower half of the bookcases to do, and the DVD storage shelves (they are in the part of the room that will be carpeted, so I just need to get them done before we get the carpet folks in.) And all the doors still need to be stained. So, I guess I will still be busy staining for the next couple of weeks!

Weather here has been good, sunny and not too hot! Great for walking and running!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi, everyone! I'm at Connie's and before she said "Don't do that! :scared1: " I had logged her out and me in. Now she says she doesn't know if she remembers her password and may never be logged in again! Somehow, I think she will........:)

She is doing well. I drove her to her dr's appt yesterday afternoon. He said she's healing well and has permission to remove her sling 3 or 4 times a day and gently move her arm around. It was kind of a long afternoon as we did a little shopping, too. We possibly did not make the best choices for food to eat while I am here......What do you mean that candy corn is not a vegetable????? :lmao: However, we DID show some restraint......two packages tried to jump into our basket, but we managed to check out with only one! :thumbsup2 We will probably watch some movies today. popcorn::

My drive down was blessedly uneventful. I saw some antelope a few times, but that was all the wildlife. Which is mostly good. I don't want to see anything right in front of my car!!! I will make the trip back in one fell swoop on Sunday - well a very long swoop. It takes about 8 hours IF you don't mess around with stuff like stopping to sit down and eat INSIDE a restaurant or take too many potty breaks.

Eva - you'll do great on your half! I remember how nervous I was before my first big race, but it was completely unnecessary. I personally always find the big races a little nerve-wracking because I don't like being in large crowds of people. Once you're out there, though, and the crowd thins, it's all good!

Margie, good luck! I hope your foot will let you do the longer miles without giving you too much trouble!

Denise, I continue to be amazed at how much you can get done. No wonder you don't sleep much......you don't have time! :lmao: Thank Mark for his contributions!

Dave, I'm sure more people will show up for your class once word gets around. I know from being in classes at the gym that attendance kind of ebbs and flows. It sounds great and I wish I could be in your class! Tell Erica hi from me!

Scott and Lynn - your house is going to be fabulous when you're done. I'm not too far down the road from you......maybe I will have to run up and see it - and YOU - one of these days!

Diane - nice to have you back!

Jen - you go, girl!

Good morning everyone! I finally booked my airfare yesterday for January! The airline I'm flying on started including the fuel surcharge on the ticket price (instead of listing it with the taxes). Since I booked my ticket on points, that fuel surcharge was now covered under the ticket price and I ended up saving $100 :yay:

Jen - You are one fast runner! I can run at about 9:00 m/m but not for very long or very far.

Lynn - Sounds like your basement is coming along nicely! Do you have any updated pictures?

Eva - My half is on the same weekend as yours! Except I'll be running on Sunday. My hip is doing better, I think it will hold up for the race. I noticed that I tend to get more achy once I start running more than 6 miles. That said, I wish I had been able to train more than I did. My longest run so far has only been 7 miles so I think I'll probably run slower for the first half and then go at my normal pace for the last half.

Margie - Stay strong! I hope you're able to do your long walk this weekend :)

Kim, Sue, Kathy, Anne, Denise, Scott, Mark, Dave, Erica - :wave2:

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Kathy thanks for the update on our Captain, Connie! Give her our
and tell her we think about her lots!

You Guys are awesome - thanks so much for the encouragement. Icing the foot at the moment- then off to bed. I am going to do it one step at a time but hoping for 6-8 miles in the morning - will update you when I finish. :upsidedow

:hippie: is our long walk effective for training if w have to do it in two same day segments? Like 5 miles am - 5 miles pm.

Scott, are you feeling better?

 Kathy, Connie, Kim, Sue, Anne, Denise & Mark, Scott & Lynn, Dave & Erica, Vicky, Jennifer, Eva, & Diane ~ sorry if I missed anyone! :grouphug:

Margie yes, I often do several things in one day to get the "Time in Motion" in, that is more important that miles. If a half is 3 hours then 3 hours of motion will be excellent training.

Kathy, take good care of our sweet Captain. We need her healthy.

Everyone have a wonderful and restful evening.

Morning Kids,

Basement project after breakfast, got workouts downloaded from Ipod and Garmin.

Will have to tote about 300 pounds of tile to the basement LOL good upperbody and stairs. Film at 11:00.

Have a great weekend,

Any suggestions for stuff to do in Columbus, I did see there is a replica of teh Santa Maria. Temos should eb good for morning runs.

Want to get a long one in tomorrow.

The moon has been really pretty here in the morn, the big dipper and Orion are out and the dipper is getting ready to scoop life from mother earth, (native American Legend - relates to the position of the dipper during the various seasons)
59 hours at work this week and looks like after this weekend no days off for a couple of till after the first week of Oct.

Scott, someone who has never been out on the sea on a clear moonless night has no idea of the number of stars and stuff up there. I was amazed the first time I saw the night sky that way. Imagine what the heavens looked like before there was any pollution spoiled the view.

Last night I was craving junk food, so if your going to give in you might as well go all the way to the deepest part of hell for it. I stopped on the way home for the the ultimate bottom feeder junk, I stopped at White Castle and got cheese burgers and fries. ( You have to fall off the wagon sometimes right) Anyway this morning my body is blaming me for what I did. Since I normally eat a very good diet, the junk caused a minor mutiny inside me. I won't be doing this again soon. Not till I forget how I'm feeling this morning.

This mornings workout if it happens is going to be just some pool work, I think a good fast treadmill workout would result in something unpleasent happening. I'm not a very big guy and I have an idea that if I hurl on one off those bodybuilders, that look a lot like a T-Rex, I'll get more workout than I want.

Scott I'm sure you will agree on this. It's wonderful to find sites like this and DisneyRunning.com it helps you remember that there are some really good people out there on the net. Sometimes it seems that the net is just full of ugliness and meanness.

Queezy Panda:sick:

OMG Dave you make me laugh. My son Nick is a freak about White Castle and the only way we can get them here is at Sam's club in the frozen section. I bought a couple of boxes a few weeks ago gave him one and Mark and had be try a bite of his. I guess I just don't see the big deal but then again it was frozen not fresh. My turkey burgers are way better. Anyway we did give the 2nd box to NIck and he was thrilled. KIDS!

When we were in NYC in July we saw one near the huge Post Office. Hope was going to stop in and call Nick send him a picture of the place via phone photo but thought better of it.

I remember once having to eat something bad when our bodies are craving FAT I ate 5 Oreo cookies. I felt better and then moved on and back to my better ways. While I'm not as good as you I am better than in years past and of course I too pay the price for not listening to the little voice that says YOUR GONNA EAT THAT??? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR F*&))^ING MIND? I've had to cut short a few walks because of my diet :rolleyes1 Not pretty!

Today is another day full of temptations, one step at a time both in eating and walking, have a good one!

A few weeks ago I mentioned how we walk in the dark and how there are very few people up at 5am. I wondered who saw us walking and now and then when it's later in the walk we see people sitting having coffee, reading the morning paper and I usually wave hello.

Last night was our first Quilt Guild meeting for the year, we run like the school year, Sept -June. One of my quilter friends is a woman older than me and her husband a retired Chief of Police live on our route, we go by their house first thing in the morning about 5am and then on our second round around 5:45. I guess her husband is up on the first round and see's us and his comment was -- There goes those crazy friends of yours". I sometimes wonder, are we crazy getting up at 4:40, out the door by 4:50 for an hour plus of race walking? Well I did buy a pair of pants yesterday that fit pretty darn good, a cute shirt and of course warmer race shirt for those cooler days. No I"m not crazy but it's nice to know that a retired police chief is watching our moves.......hopefully if we don't show up the second time around, he may come looking for us...:rotfl:

Since it's cooler at night now, we're sleeping in till 5:00. Ahh the blessings of an extra 20 min and then an hour of sewing before work. Now that's crazy! - well not to me but to some it might be.

denise

Denise I guess we do think alike, I wrote about being out early in the morning walking in my blog this morning. I was trying to show how our neglect of our bodies and the decline of the world around us might be connected in some small way.
