We live on the 3rd floor of our apt. building. There is no elevator, and the stairs are very narrow. It was not fun moving in, but we managed it.

Later in our time here, we bought a weight machine. Of course, it came in pieces, so it was not a big problem getting it up the stairs. We got it put together up here.

Now, we are moving, and decided to try to sell the thing. We had a guy call who was ver interested in it. Luckily for us he was big, strong, and determined. But it was scary for me.

They took off some of the parts, like the butterfly press, and the seats, and the chest press, etc. So we were left with the frame and the weight, which would not come off unless we completely took the thing apart, which would reduce it to about 2,000 pieces. To me, better to have to put it togeter later than to risk someone getting hurt getting it down the stairs. But they thought otherwise.

So, the guy who was buying it an my husband first decide to try to balance the thing on the railing, and slowly slide it down, with one of them at one end guiding it, and the other at the top of it holding and guiding. So, there is my DH, walking backwards down the stairs, with his HEAD between the frame of the machine and the bars that the weights are on. The other guy lifted the opposite end, and, of course, gravity does it s part, and all the weights start sliding towards DH's head! Luckily his reflexes are good.

Finally, we saw a neighbor walking by, someone we don't even know, and asked if he would be willing to help. He was. If he hadn't that thing would never have gotten down. The three of them were able to lift it, and had enough strength to keep it from falling and crushing anyone! I'll tell you, for a minute I thought DH was a gonner!

I'm so glad that part is over! Now for the couches!

Yep, as I said in the subject!

Look at the bright side. You never had to buy a stairmaster and you probably have great legs.

True.

But I think this time, we'll go for the ground floor!
