After reading through "several":rolleyes1 posts regarding the rental of DVC points, I am feeling more comfortable and ready to ask some more specific questions.

How many points would be required for a vacation 1/4/09-1/11/09? Right now I am just wondering the point level for all types of accommodations. We are a family of four traveling with a family of five (and potentially another family of five). How many guests are allowed in and how many points would the room-type "cost" for:

a studio
a 1-bedroom
a 2-bedroom
a 3-bedroom

We would really like to stay at the same resort as the family of five we are traveling with. The second family of five is not definite and is not necessarily one that we would need to stay at the same resort with.

This would be my first time renting points, so I have a lot of questions (many of which have been answered through reading other threads).

We have stayed at the Beach Club, so I am familiar with that location. The next place on my "list" is the Wilderness Lodge, but I am flexible.

TIA!!!

here's an essential thread for learning about renting.

the point charts to determine what you need for different room types at different resorts are linked in the top right hand corner of your screen.

in general, studios and 1BRs sleep 4, some 1BRs at AKV are designed to sleep 5, 2BRs sleep 8 and 3BRs (called grand villas or "GV"s) sleep 12. any further discussion should take place in the occupancy thread.

at less than 5 months till your planned reservation, be aware that you are working on relatively "short notice" in DVC planning terms. i did the same thing when i rented points and got few responses to my inquiries...hopefully there will still be availability for those dates, though...

Be aware that there may not be much availability at this point for the dates you mention. January is prime DVC time as it has the lowest points-per-night of the year (as do September and the first 2 weeks of December). A 3-bedroom would definitely be a near impossibility at this point. The other sizes may be an option, but you may have to waitlist.

Just wanted to give you the heads-up.
