Today I donated blood for the first time. I felt okay after. Not great but not horrible. I am still sluggish though. The girl I knew across from me got pale white and passed out.

Any of you donated blood before? Your experience?

I had a blood test done about a month ago because I randomly faint sometimes and I asked the man doing it if this is what giving blood is like because I'd like do that someday and he was telling me that giving blood takes longer because they take more blood. So since I almost passed out from just a blood test, I doubt I'd be able to give blood. I'd like to, though..

I've donated blood before with no problems. I don't mind needles, so nothing about donating bothers me. They always comment on how calm I am about the whole thing.

One time I had a friend donate with me, and she got SO pale during the process and everyone was freaking out. She literally looked like she was dead. She said she felt fine though. They made her stay quite a while after donating, but she never did pass out or anything.

Well I never have I just turned 16 9 days ago so I can do it now, I don't get bothered when they draw blood for tests but I don't really like needles. But my iron is way too low
so I'm not allowed to till I get it up.

This is yet another reason I want to be 16. I'll be able to drive, do the avon walk, and give blood. I want to give blood. But I hate needles. So I'll probably freak and flip out.

I've never donated. I never had a problem having bloodwork done though, so I don't think I would have an issue. I've just never been around when the opportunity arose.

I also kind of really dislike the fact that the Red Cross won't take blood from homosexuals. My blood is no better than theirs, and I have issues with the bigotry. I know its not the Red Cross's fault though, I'm sure they would love to take the donations, but they abide by these laws and don't try to change them. Thats where I have issues.

I have twice before, but the last time my iron was too low. :(

It doesn't bother me, I just get really cold and I do get nervous right before for some reason. Pricking your finger hurts worse than the needle.

I never get sick or dizzy, so I try and do it when I can. It makes me feel good to help out. :)

I did once when the red cross came to my high school.
It wasn't fun. my blood kept clotting up, so they had to keep adjusting the needle in my arm to make it flow. I couldn't even fill up a whole bag. It was like a half hour of pain.
I can't donate for another half a year though, even if I wanted to because of my tattoo. And I plan on getting another this summer, so that will be another year.

I don't really see myself donating blood again, anyways.

I donated before, but I had a very bad reaction. I was pale and I almost passed out, but each time I tried to get up I'd get dizzy again and I'd have to lay back down. It took almost two hours to get me out of the place. (It was a mobile-one though, so that might have something to do with it).

I tried to when they came to my high school. But when they pricked my finger they had trouble getting blood out and they kept doing it over and over and squeezing my finger so much I just said I was feeling sick and passed out. They pulled me over and laid me down on the floor where I woke up.

Obviously I wasn't successful in my attempt.

I donated last year, and was fine.
But this year when I went to donate, the computer I was at crashed and I wasn't allowed to re-enter my information. It's against their policy. :confused3 I was VERY disappointed though.

I donated once. I've tried to donate at school like 3 other times but they never call me in!!

Basically the whole thing went easily when i donated. I was the youngest person of the day (I just turned 16 the day before) and they made a fuss over me. Like how great it was i was donating. It took them awhile to find my vein but I filled up the bag pretty quickly. I was fine right after.

An hour later I went to work. And about 3 hours in I passed out. That wasn't fun.

I plan on donating again. And I plan on eating loads of peanut butter before hand.

i could never do it. im terrified of needles. and i pass out.

but i admire those of you who can :)

I've never donated blood, but I plan on it, eventully. But as of right now, I'm too young.

The red cross came to my school last month and everybody who gave blood except a few people got this TERRIBLE infection around the spot of the needle. This one girl in my art class, most of her arm was blue. I'm guessing they did a crappy job of sanitizing or something, because not only did a few people get it, 75% of the people who gave blood got it bad.
