do any charities accept DVC points as a donation? I have 49 points expiring at the end of April.

There is no way to donate points to a charity, unless the charity happens to have a DVC account...which is unlikely. Without a DVC account, the charity would have no way to use the points.

What you can do is make a reservation and donate the reservation to a charity. One great one in the WDW area is "Give Kids The World," which provides Disney vacation lodging and other services for very sick kids. The kids themselves have special housing needs, but GKTW uses lodging donations for their volunteers. I donated a stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek once to a group of Girl Scouts who were volunteering at GKTW.

You would have to check with a tax professional, but I don't believe a donation of a stay would be tax-deductible.

100% not deductible. One could rent them and donate the proceeds and it would be deductible but also taxable.

What I did:
Book a stay in your name, then have your church or other group have an auction, make sure you specify that no changes to the reservation are allowed, and talk directly to the person in charge of the auction. After the auction, get the names of the winning bidders and change the reservation name.

I donated a weekend stay to volunteers at Give the Kids the World. I would do it again if I had expiring points.GKTW is a worthy organization IMO.
