Have 152 points running out Jan 31. If I could donate a week DVC stay to a good cause (legitimate for tax deduct) will consider. Any suggestions?

We've donated a stay to volunteers at Give the Kids the World. I do not think that the donation is tax deductible. There have been a few threads on that topic.

Here is a link to the latest Give the Kids the World newsletter.

Hello,

My name is Scott and I work with an organization called "A Wish Come True". The organization has been granting wishes for terminally ill children for the last few decades. My family and I are very involved in helping the organization grant as many wishes as possible. One amazing attribute of this organization is that 85% of the wishes granted involve sending a child to Disney World. In the present economy, fundraising has become increasingly difficult. That's why I'm thinking that you can help. Have you ever thought about what you can do with your DVC points that are expiring other than selling or renting them. As a DVC member, I certainly have. I realize how fortunate I am and how fortunate other DVC members are. We often take for granted our annual trips to Disney World or related trips. There are so many children out there whose parents can't afford to take them. Even more, there are a select few that have never been and will never go if the generosity of others does not play a part in their future. Since September 11th, 2001, we have proven that Americans are resilient, compassionate and generous to take care of our own. If you feel compelled in any way to even consider the option of donating your points to help a child go to Disney World before leaving this Earth, please feel free to contact me. I assure you that I am a DVC member and that this is in no way a hoax or any other inappropriate request. Thank You!

There are several good organizations where reservations may be donated - like Make-A-Wish and ( DIS sponsored ) Give-Kids-The-World, but I'd check with your tax advisor before assuming the donation would be tax deductible. You might look into renting your points and then donating the proceeds (tax deductible) to one of these great organizations. In addition, time is running out for week-long stays between now and the end of January.

Good luck! :)
