We were at AK last Friday (3/25) for Donald's Breakfastasaurus at Tusker House. The food was good, and the characters came around to our table several times. That's the good.
The bad is that they take your picture with Donald before you go in, and then right before they bring you the bill for your $100 breakfast for 4, they bring the picture in a "3D" frame. You can get the 8X10 along with 4 4X6 prints for the low low price of $30!! WHAT?!?!? Btw, Donald never comes inside, so you only get that one chance to get a picture w/him.
We also had a server who ignored us and never brought me a Coke or refilled our drinks, but that's another story.

Donald does, indeed, come inside, I have pics both inside and out with him. He just doesn't come in and constantly mingle.

The $30 pictures scam is the same at every character meal, not just Tusker House. At least there you get your picture with actual "live" Donald. At Chef Mickey's they take your pic in front of a Mickey statue. Now THAT is offensive to me.

We didn't have that problem at the Crystal Palace w/the Pooh characters. And Donald never came inside while we were there- not even once. Fortunately, I asked a CM to take a pic w/my camera before we went in.

They did a 'test' not so long ago where they had the 'live' Mickey stand for this 'photo-op' (instead of him going to all the tables). Needless to say, they had to end this 'test' when people raised cain & threatened to cancel their Chef Mickey's ADR's

Totally agree! This is part of the reason I haven't tried this character meal. For what they charge for this breakfast, all of the characters should come to your table. If I want a 'photo-op' with Donald, there are plenty of places I can do that in the park for free.

Where are all the other people? Maybe when we were there Donald was busy posing outside with everyone else and that's why he didn't come inside.:confused3
I still think for $100 they shouldn't have to charge for a picture with the character the meal is named after. Either include it in the price (like at Cinderella's) or let him walk around like all ther others.

This was at about 9:30ish in the morning in September. I don't know if that makes a difference?

We paid for every pic at every meal we did. Crystal Palace didn't offer a posed picture at entry, I agree with you there. But at 'Ohana breakfast we paid for a pic of the two of us, just with lei's in front of a booth. At Akershus we paid for the pic with Belle, at CRT, it was included with the $50 bowl of yogurt I had, at Chef Mickey we had the picture with the statue. Its expensive, but you don't HAVE to buy the pic. I can understand what you are saying though, if you wanted a pic with Donald, in that particular costume and without having to stand in line to do so, I would be annoyed too I suppose.

I agree, the photo should be included in the price of the meal or allow us to put it on photopass. I hate that I am pressured to buy the photo package when I just want the one photo for my scrapbook and maybe one for a frame.

When we first started going to Tusker House Donald did go around to the tables. But it appears that they have discontinued that. When we went this past August he was outside only. It is my understanding that is the *norm* now. Maybe he makes an occasional showing inside during slow times.:confused3
In addition to the Photopass pictures (which DH bought without my knowing because he loved them :lovestruc) they were happy to take a few shots with my own camera, which came out very nice. :)

to compare it to other character meals...
Chef Mickeys - you also have to buy the photos in addition to the meal.
Norway Princess - I believe this is the only character meal where the picture is included in the cost of the meal. (eta: just read the pp - apparently you do have to pay for the picture here as well)
Cindy's Table - you also have to buy the photos.

there may be a few others..that is all I can think of at the moment. ;)

Donald was outside in February when we were there, but they gladly took a picture with our camera which turned out really well so we skipped the package picture. I also have them use our camera when we go through the character spot in Epcot and have never been turned down. Most of the time they're as good as the photo pass ones.

We always have breakfast at tusker house. Our first time we bought the pictures but then we learned and we give our personal camera to the CM and we always get a great picture without paying for it. We love the tusker house. The last time Donald came to our table and we were able to take another picture with him.

So the photos at the character meals are NOT included in the photopass CD??? That would be a huge bummer!! I was hoping that every picture that a "professional photographer" took while at WDW would be included in your photopass!! :confused3

Once you PAY for the photo the Photopass Photographers take at the meals, your receipt will come with a code number on it. Then you can upload the code to your Photopass account and then print/order that photo. Hope that helps.

We've stopped buying the pics they bring around. We take our own photos and pre-purchase the Photopass card.

I too was a little disapointed at Tusker House that Donald was there at the start and didn't come inside.

I had wrongly assumed at the time he would have came in later and would take a picutre myself then, lesson learned!

i believe i read on here that you can take a pic of the receipt w/the number and even if you don't buy the pic at the meal, you can get it on your photopass...
