Are there any dolphin encounters on eastern route? Are they usually spotted from ship?

ChrisH - I'm on the Eastern, so not going to Cozumel this time. Thanks anyway.

Dave - Do you know of anyone who has gone to Anguilla from the Magic? I wonder how reliable the ferry is. I might be a little too nervous about getting back to really have fun.

Our group went to Anguilla on Last Years Halloween Cruise on the Magic.

Highly reccomend it, but it takes a lot of prior planning to hit the timetables just right.

How does a 3 mile stretch of Crystal White sand beach and Azure to turquoise blue calm ocean to yourself sound???

This and they treat you very well, not the Touristy pushy people just great and helpful islanders.

Again I have to emphasize IT takes a lot of Prior Planning to get those timetables right for the journey.

Pryd, were you in the group with "Ginger"? She's the one who's posted the most previously about going to Anguilla.

Samsma, the ferry between Marigot, St. Martin and Blowing Point, Anguilla runs every 30 minutes and takes 20 minutes for the crossing. The fare is $10/pp each way and you have to pay a $2 departure tax in each direction. Also note that you'll need the same citizenship documentation for this that you used when you boarded the ship at Port Canaveral.

Listing the details makes it seem like a hassle, but I think it's worth doing. If you want to swim with the dolphins, this is your only option during the cruise. Besides, you'll have a unique story to tell when you and your fellow passengers compare shore stories during the remainder of the cruise.

Dave,
Re: "Also note that you'll need the same citizenship documentation for this that you used when you boarded the ship at Port Canaveral."
We are Canadian and British and need passports at Cape Canaveral. DCL takes our passports on boarding and doesn't return them until debarkation. Can we get them back to do the ferry to Anguilla or can we use another form of photo ID, (drivers license maybe)?
Thanks
Tony

Hi Tony!
We're from London too! I was just wondering the same thing about the documentation for this as DCL holds our passports when we check in. I'll post back if I can find anything more :)

Okay here's what I found on the Anguilla web site:
"A passport is preferred, however, US and Canadian citizens may travel with an original birth certificate and official photo identification. "

A representative from the Anguilla Tourist Board wrote to say that (s)he forwarded my question to the Department of Immigration. I hope to get an answer soon.

OK, maybe this is a really dumb question, but are the dolphins in the wild and by chance you may be able to swim with them or do you pay to swim with them. We are going on the Eastern in Jan. and this sounds really neat. I've been to St. Marteen before and Anguilla sounds really interesting, any more info you can tell me would be great!

This is the description given by the Dolphin Fantaseas web site...

The Dolphin Fantaseas interactive swim involves a half hour of up-close and personal playtime with dolphins. You'll begin your journey at the waters edge where our trainers will educate you about dolphins, how they live and their marine environment. Then you'll dip into deeper waters and learn how to feed them from your fingers, be able stroke their silky skin, watch them dive and swim around you, and listen to them use their unique echolocation. Swim, smile, and enjoy the Fantasea.
