We will be staying in HH in July. Can anyone recommend a good dolphin watching cruise? I've seen threads here about the Low Country Nuture Cruise. Is that one any good?

We loved that cruise - small boat that the dolphins came right up to and sails from Shelter Cove. :Pinkbounc

Is Shelter Cove near Disney HH? I saw that they do a fireworks cruise on Tuesdays. Is that worth doing or should we go to that on our own? I read somewhere that they have concerts with fireworks every Tuesday somewhere on Hilton Head.

We did the dolphin cruise through Disney in 2005. It was great. :thumbsup2

The cruise leaves right from the resort. You can sign up for it over by the pool. I suggest signing up a day or two in advance.

We saw a lot of dolphins. The cruise was the guide, his dog and my family of 5. We got great views. We saw several large tour boats that were packed and I don't think they got as good a deal as we got.

It is well worth it. :teeth:

You actually sort of drive through Shelter Cove parking to get to the Disney resort. There are fireworks over the marsh every Tuesday and depending on your room you may be able to view them from your balcony. If not then there is a "point" at the end of the resort that is a great spot for viewing the fireworks. When we were there last year they actually had cast members stationed at the walkways onto the resort to keep other people from entering the grounds to view the show. It is really the best spot.
The resort is actually on a small island a itself and you drive over. The marsh is on oneside and Shelter Cove Marina on the other. You can walk over to shelter cove and enjoy all the restaurants and shops. It is great fun!

We did the dolphin cruise last week. We booked right at the Disney activities window by the pool. We had just us 4 and the guide in a small boat. We had a GREAT trip. We saw many dolphins and even a 2 week old baby dolphin! Very close, may 4 feet from boat.

I have also heard of Low Country Tours and Cpt. Scott. I don't know if this is the same company or not?? We met our guide right at that office, he walked us out of the resort and to the boat at Shelter Cove. He even pulled his crab trap and showed us about 15 crabs.

If you can, do the activities on Tues. night (The Star Spangled BBQ). It was TONS of fun and we watched fireworks with everyoned else right around the campfire, toward the dock into the marsh at Disney. The fireworks barge is right there.

Low Country Nature Tours ROCK! The small boat makes it much easier for the dolphins to get closer to you :teeth:

Also Captn Scott has no objections to you bringing along a small cooler with drinks, snacks or even a little alcohol :thumbsup2 ;) pirate:

We started our HHI with an evening (7pm) tour Friday May 19th and it could not have been better. It is well worth the money IMESHO :p
