Dolphin/Swan on points and DDP?

We have enough Starwood points to stay at the Dolphin or Swan for 10 days. I'm wondering if we can book with points through Starwood and still get the DDP? If so, do we book it through starwood or can we book it through disney? Also, if its free dining then, anyone know if we can get it if staying on points? Thanks!

Only guests at Disney run resorts are eligible to get the DDP. Guests at the S/D, SoG and the Downtown Disney resorts are not eligible to purchase dining.

Free dining is offered as an alternative to room discounts. DVC members staying on points and guests who book discounted rooms (AP, CM for example) don't get free dining.

Joanne have you had DDP staying at the Swan & Dolphin before? Now somebody may prove me wrong but i didn't think that these were included in the plan as they are not "proper" disney resorts. I have tried the reservation system & it won't allow me to add DDP to either of these but as soon as I choose one of the other WDW properties it opens up the Dining option.

Thanks! I actually havent used the DDP at the Swan or Dolphin before. I wasnt sure it was even available. We'll be there during the free dining (if offered this year) and I'm trying to figure out if its worth using our points for 2 full free weeks at a starwood resort and pay for food or if we're better off staying at a Value resort like we usually do (but usually its only for a week) and having the DDP???? What would you do?? We've always had the ddp so I'm not even sure how costly meals would be or how inconvenient it would be.... but the extra space would be nice for two full weeks (especially with three kiddos (5, 2 and 1) in tow...

Two week stay...Do a split stay. S/D has a great location, walking distance to EPCOT and Disney Studios. Stay at the value first, so you can use your left over days at your S/D stay.

Joanne from other threads Free DDP is usually offered in April with the first few days for WDW Visa holders first.In the UK it was only offered for stays at Moderates & some deluxe but this may be different for the US. I would work out how much the split stay plus 5 days free dining compares against a full stay using your points plus 10 days dining oop & then go for the best option.
