Dolphin resort fee?

Hi,
The policy on having this waived seems to change periodically. Last time we stayed there (8/03) they reduced it to $5.00 since we didn't plan to take advantage of any of the amenities the fee offers. So...what's the current policy? Thanks and happy weekend.

I think it depends on who you talk to when you check in. Some friends of ours stayed there last July and had all of it waived, but I have also read here that some people end up having to pay it all. My suggestion is to ask at check in, and if you are firm you can probably get away with not having to pay. Good luck!

DH and I stayed at the Dolphin in February, and I considered asking about them about waiving the fee, but since it was too cold to use the outdoor spa (IMHO), we decided we would definitely get use out of the health club spa, and it was nice having the coffee in the morning. The spa alone was worth the extra $10 - we had it to ourself every night - it was awesome!!

I loved using the "free" high speed internet service while at the Dolphin. DH didn't go with us that trip and every night we would upload our digital pictures to Shutterfly so that he could see what we did that day. So, I didn't mind paying the resort fee. I also read the paper in the evening after we returned from the parks.

We felt we received a good value for the Dolphin - great price, great location, great pools, great service, great amenities, you get the idea. So the resort fee didn't bother us.

We're staying at the Swan which also has the resort fee. I had thoughts of trying to get it waived, but then was thinking of the advantages. We will bring the laptop, and even though I have sketched a list of places to eat, someone might not feel like one of those places for whatever reason, and we can check out menus of other places on line. We will also take advantage of the coffee and newspaper. Might even venture to the health club. So I can see us getting out $10/day worth! My only comment is that they might as well just add it to the cost of the room. That way, management gets their $10 extra from everyone, guests aren't aggravated over another "fee", and everyone gets the benefits from it.

Just tell me the room costs $159 per night (teacher rate) rather than $149 PLUS another $10 per night fee. I can't see people deciding not to stay if they put it that way. Even at the rack rate -do you think someone will say "I'll stay there if it's $325 a night, but NOT at $335 a night"?
