We are booked at the Dolphin for 2 nights at the end of our trip in late October (the first part of our vacation will be spent at OKW). I have been reading very disturbing things about the condition of the guest rooms at the Dolphin - that they are dirty, shabby, beds are uncomfortable. We are getting a very good rate and as I have never stayed here before I was looking forward to it. But now I am getting nervous about all the bad reports. I understand the Swan has completed renovations, but does anyone know the status of the Dolphin? Has anyone stayed here recently? Help!!!!!

They are on the 6th floor. Request a renovated room a few days before you leave. We LOVE the Dolphin and will be going back for 15 nights in Dec. Have a great time!

How many floors does the Dolphin have?

We stayed in an "old" room at the Dolphin. While it wasn't as nice as the renovated rooms, I didn't find it dirty or the beds uncomfortable. The carpet was a bit worn, but bedspreads and curtains were in fine shape although I much prefer the decor of the new rooms. A renovated room would be preferrable, and I think as you are only staying for two nights you will have a better chance of getting one. If you haven't already, join the Starwood Preferred Guest program at www.spg.com. It's for guests at Sheraton/Westin hotels and you may have an easier time getting an upgrade to a renovated room. It's free to join.

Jodi--I know the Dolphin has over 1,100 rooms. I think they have somewhere between 15 and 20 floors.

Does anyone know when they are scheduled to complete the renovations at the Dolphin? We are scheduled for two nights (2 rooms) in early February and I was hoping that we might have a good shot at renovated rooms.

Thanks!

that the renovations were moving very quickly but have slowed down some while on the 5th and 6th floor. They are renovating the rooms from bottom up and as of last week, the Dolphin representative said they hope to have the entire project down by sometime next Spring. I asked if they were behind as I was previously told it would be complete after the first of the year and the rep. just chuckled and said they were working as fast as they could but maybe a bit behind. She emphasised that you can always request a renovated room and have that added to your reservation.

Good luck!
