My husband has a conference at the Dolphin in mid-April. We are thinking of the kids & I going as well. The dolphin looks BEAUTIFUL from the outside, but I'm wondering about the pool. My kids are 7 and 9, and since we just spent a week at Disney (CBR) in September we probably won't be doing the whole Disney thing except maybe one day. So I want to make sure there will be a good pool! I looked at their site and all over and can't find pictures of the "grotto". Supposedly it has a slide? All I see is a waterfall! Anyone know about the slide? I would love to stay at Beach Club for their awesome pool-slide, but not sure he can for the conference.
Thanks for any info!

Your kids will love the slide at the Grotto pool, its lots of fun and the entire pool area is just wonderful. My kids and I think its almost better than SAB except for no sand in the pool!

We were actually surprised at how nice the grotto pool was!

There's some great pictures of the pool via:

It's pretty spacious, adjacent to a beach and playground area, plenty of areas to sit, and lots of fun for the kiddos! We found the slide to be longer/faster than CBR's and the overall pool it'self was larger in size. I also liked how secluded and private was; It's not directly against the resort like SAB.

The Grotto pool is shared with the Swan and it really is one of the best on Disney property. It definitely has a slide since we sat next to it. And it has a waterfall as well. Lots of hot tubs around too. There actually is seating behind the waterfall but I wouldn't advise that. It's LOUD! There's a sand beach area for walking and playing only and a playground over towards the Swan. And for Mom, there is a pool bar. On our recent trips (not staying at the Dolphin but walking by the area), there sometimes are poolside activites going on with a DJ. You can probably get more information on that when you check in.

The only way your kids will be disappointed with the Grotto pool is if they are really, really picky.

BTW - if you want another diversion for your kids, Fantasia miniature golf is just across the street from the Swan.

My kids loved the pool. It's great. One thing to know, when we were there, there were only two lifeguards: one at the top of the slide and one at the bottom.

The pool is big and has several diff areas. Parents had to watch their kids in the other parts of the pool, so I had to get up and move often cause you can't see the whole pool from one spot.

:)

This sounds great. I think I'll go and take the kids! I will start investigating what other options there are in the area for activities too. Thanks everyone!

The ESPN Club has an arcade and the arcade at the Boardwalk isn't bad (or so I've been told by teenagers). I mentioned minature golf which is really close. You can take the Friendship boat and ride is on a full round trip just for fun (and it'll take about an hour). Surrey bikes can be rented at the Boardwalk. Treat the kids to burgers and ice cream at Beachs and Cream at the Beach Club.

Don't forget that Disney transportation will be available so you can take the bus to Magic Kingdom (you don't have to enter), then do a monorail or boat tour of the resorts. Or mix the two transportations for fun. You can also take the boat to Fort Wilderness and enjoy some things over there. Watch the geyser go off at the Wilderness Lodge. Go to Downtown Disney and let the kids play at the Lego Store.

There are lots of things to do without going into a park.
