Dolphin or WL or Universal???

I swore I wasn't going to let my self get crazy this time with the resort decision, but after a few weeks that is where I'm at.

My daughter's gymnastics team coach has decided to do the Presidential Classic meet that is held at WDW ESPN President's weekend in February so I gave in and said "yes" we could go after taking a pass the last 2 times they went (we are in Ohio and it is an expensive trip for a long weekend and involves missing some school days as well).

I currently have a reservation for the Dolphin, but having read the feedback about it - some saying it is luxurious and some saying it's a dump, I feel like I'm taking too much of a chance that it'll be a disappointment.

I've always wanted to stay at WL, but the room pricing for that weekend is outrageous.

Then there's Universal. At the present, I'm planning to spend the first night in Orlando at one of the on-site hotels to get the early entry and express pass benefits, and then move over to WDS but the rooms look so nice... I'm wondering if I should just stay there and drive over to WDW instead.

I'm afraid if we stay offsite at Swan or Universal we'll miss out on the Magic Bands, FP+ and lunch reservations for BOG, etc. as well..
