My husband has a conference at the Hyatt, but I have heard the pool is closed for renovations. So, I booked a duplicate reservation at the Dolphin. It will cost a bit more, since the Hyatt is having a nice stay 3 get one free deal, but it is closer to Disney and has the extra magic hour benefits, which is nice. We will have a rental car.

We were supposed to stay the Yacht Club but there are absolutely no deals during our stay (Dec 3-9) and no availability when we wanted to add an extra night. So it is off-site for us this time.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I would go with the Dolphin purely because of location. Plus the pool at Grand Cypress is really the only big reason to stay there in my opinion, so if its closed there goes that.

We just stayed at the Hyatt on Oct 9 and the pools were open. (I had read that they were closed on tripadvisor, but I called the Hyatt and they had re-opened)

It was a nice place to stay and we got a great price though hotwire ($129).

We were supposed to stay at the Dolphin in August '08 and they contacted us 8 days before our arrival to tell us they were relocating us over to the Hyatt!! :scared1: It's a long story and it basically comes down to them kicking us out for our discounted teacher's rate . . . they resold our room at a higher rate for a large convention booking.

However, we really loved the Hyatt! It was beautiful and far surpassed the Dolphin in every way . . . WITH ONE EXCEPTION being its location. It took anywhere from 15 - 30 minutes to get to the parks, depending on time of day and location. The Dolphin has no regard for customer service whatsoever and I will never recommend that anyone stay there. It even took us a half an hour to locate the pool at the Dolphin!! There are several "wings" with separate elevators and entrances/exits and it is very confusing to navigate. It can be a very long walk to get even to the lobby. Good luck with your decision, but I would be more than happy to voluntarily book the Hyatt if we were not interested in going to WDW each day. (If we visit WDW again, I'll book a Disney hotel, no question!)

Hi Kim- I just cancelled a reseration for a room at the Yacht Club Dec. 4-9. It's probably gone by now, but it never hurts to try:) I have never stayed off-site, so I can't make a reccomendation.. sorry. Good Luck!

Thanks for all of the good information. We'll probably stay at the Hyatt. I have the two kids by myself for a day-and-a-half and plan to hit MK the first day, so it is just as easy to drive where we need to go. We also plan to go to Sea World for at least one day. Plus, it sounds like there is lots to do at the Hyatt Friday morning if we just want to take it easy and wait for DH to finish his conference at noon. Then we can head to Epcot for the day together. Besides, easy for DH, easy for me, right??

Here's to the six week countdown.
