My husband, son, and I have reservations for the Dolphin starting on March 30th. I have reservations for a standard room, but would like to know if i could request a certain room for the view. Could anyone give me any pointers on what veiw to request if they accept requests? We have stayed at the Dolphin before and no matter what room we do get I'm sure we will be happy. We have been in Orlando now for 11 days and cant wait to get to the Hotel. Thanks!!!

This helps with getting upgraded views and accomodations.

Yes, you can call and make requests and do make sure you reiterate what you want when you get there. People say it's good to be general. "I'd love and Epcot view on a high floor." as opposed to asking for a specific floor or room.

Decide what is most important to you...view, balcony, close to the lobby, high floor and make that your top request. Don't ask for everything, it's too specific and will make it more difficult for them to accomadate.

Regardless, prepare for a parking lot view and hope for the best. How much time do you really spend in the room anyway.

have a good time!

We became Starwood members before making our Nov. ressies on the advice of folks on this forum. Seems that Dolphin management tries to take extra care of those on the Starwood plan and many notes I've read here speak of reserving a 'standard' room but getting a room with a view if on the Starwood plan and if you ask at registration time in a nice, subtle manner. I'll find out in Nov.

Like someone already mentioned, ask when you arrive, but usually that's not even necessary. Both times we've stayed at Dolphin, we had teacher discounts and both times we were upgraded to amazing views without even requesting it, for free.

Here are some things to do to increase your chances of getting an upgrade!

1) go to www.swandolphin.com
press go to reservations
then press special room requests
fill in the request about two weeks before you go
if you don't hear from them then do it again a few days before you go. Don't worry to much if you don't hear from them.

2)Call the 1-800-227-1500 number and make sure it is noted on your reservation.

3)If you haven't already done so go to
http://www.preferredguest.com/login.jhtml
Then get your temp card.
This will let you get points on each of your visits, get express check in and out, and free upgrades when you have enough points. Many people have gotten upgrades even w/o enough points. There is also a preference section and you can put King sized beds, feather or foam pillows and turn down service here!

ASK ASK ASK...when you check in ask if there is the possibility of a free upgrade, and be specific about what you want.

good luck!!!

What is express check in?

We have a Starwood card and made a ressie this past Sunday for a standard room at the Dolphin with a AAA discount for $162.50 plus tax. Is this a good rate. We will be there from Monday August 12th through Friday August 16th. Just a quick five day trip this year. Since we did not think we would be able to go at all during 2002 I am very happy just looking to get a good rate.

We are not buying APs this year because we will not be back to WDW until Sept 2003.

Any help would be great.

If you have a Starwood prefered card, then you can have a credit card atta ched to it. So when you check in you go directly to the Starwood preffered line, usually a short line with one or no people in it. Hand them your starwood prefered card and get your key. Check in, in less than 5 minutes flat!!

That is great to know Glo. Thanks for the quick reply. We do have our credit card attached to our Starwood card so that is great. I did not realize there was a seperate line.
