I went on the Eastern last year and was unable to go on the dolphin encounter because it was sold out. This coming January I am going on the Western. I know there is a Dolphin Encounter in Cozumel....but I know it isnt as nice as the one in St Maarten. Can anyone tell me if the one in Cozumel is worth the money and do you get to kiss and play with the dolphins??? as well as get the chance to purchase a picture or video??

Thank you in advance ;)

Hi. I had booked the Dolphin Encounter in Cozumel for our cruise last Feb, but Disney canceled shore excursions due to weather.

Check out their website: wwwdolphinencounters.com

Good Luck!

Did you still stop in Cozumel and get off the boat???? What happens then??? :scratchin

Thanks for the reply :flower1:

We did the Dolphins in Cozumel. They have 3 programs:

1) Encounter - you stand on a platform and the dolphin comes to you, you pet and kiss him.
2) Swim Adventure - get item 1, plus, you go in the water with him, he gives you a short ride, then you snorkel about, and he swims with you.
3) Royal Swim - item 1 plus you get the major dolphin rides - he pushes you and launches you into the air.

We did the Swim Adventure, only because the Royal was booked. It was alot of fun, but we had a storm, so the water was a bit rough. The dolphins and trainers are very friendly. They do offer pictures and a video. I would recommend this, or the Royal, but having said that, I think it is a bit pricey (about $100, not counting pics and video).

We did the encounter in Cozumel and really enjoyed it. You stand on a platform in the water and the trainer brings the dolphin by you and you get to touch it--alll the while he/she is explaining about the dolphin. You also get to kiss it and it kisses you. You can purchase pics and video.

You also get use of the park to explore and snorkel if you wish. There is a sea lion show that is extra; you get a free locker to use.

For us, it was a once in a lifetime experience that we still enjoy talking about and looking at the video!

Yes we docked in Cozumel and we did get off the ship. But since we booked our excursion through DCL, they can cancel if they want to. Some people booked directly with Dolphin Encounters and were not canceled.

We palyed Mini Golf shopped, instead.

You were all so helpful and wonderful in answering my questions. This board is the best!!!!
Thank you soooo much.....I cant wait.....

One more question....do you recommend booking it through disney or on my own? Disney will refund you if they have to cancel right??? but the other one may not???

We are doing the dolphin encounter in Nassau~ does anyone know if they are essentially the same as all the others? Or have any info on booking direct? There was one post about being able to ride on the Dolphin? Is that right? I have never seen that before but would be interested in hearing about it!

We booked ours thru DCL. This was our first cruise and since we booked only two months out--due to husband's work schedule--it was easier for us to do it that way. I was pleased with the way they did it--handled getting you to the taxi's and to the park, then back again.

I believe you can do it cheaper on your own, not sure by the time you add in taxi's and entrance fees, etc. Go to dolphindiscovery.com and you will get information on their rates and different packages that they have. I would call them about their cancellation policy and what happens if the ship does not dock for some reason.

Have fun! It is great!!!!!!!!!

Thanks! We are too excited~ although I am thinking about leaving my 3 year old because she is old enough but that would definitely let my son and I have a great time!
