dOLPHIN encounter

Has anyone ever done the dolphin encounter where you meet them? how was the experience and is it worth the money? Im a huge dolphin lover and have never met one before ;( and since im going with my boyfriend of 8 months i want to enjoy/share something very special with him.

If you are talking about the dolphin encounter at Epcot, it is great. It is like 3 hours long in the morning, and you don't need to have a ticket into Epcot that day to take part. It is mainly educational, but fun, you will learn so much about the dophins and their surroundings and you will learn about the program there at Epcot, then towards the end you will change and get your wet suits and then you actually have time to pet the dolphin, interact with them, etc, and when I did it last May, we actually received a free photo of us with the dolphin. I think it is great and well worth the money.

Most definitely need reservations, and it fills up pretty fast so if you are thinking of doing this on your upcoming trip I would call ASAP.

We'll be doing the Dolphin Encounter on this trip, VERY excited!!

We did Dolphins in Depth back in 2004 and I LOVED it. It's a 3 hour tour that takes place backstage at The Living Seas. You learn about dolphin anatomy, how they train the dolphins, how they weigh them, etc. You spend about 20-30 minutes in the water with the dolphins and you get to take a picture with them. Afterwards, you go into a room to talk about conservation and that's also where you get free refreshments, your tshirt, and your photo.

You need to book ahead of time. The tour only runs once a day, Monday through Friday, and only takes 8 people. Not EVERY tour is full, but it's better to be safe than sorry. They do not take walk ups. I don't know if it still has it, but the Birnbaum's guide used to have a discount coupon in it for the tour good for up to 4 people. Nice way to save some money.

I think this is a must for the next trip. My wife has always wanted to do one of the dolphin encounter things and I can't imagine anyone doing it better than disney.

My niece and I are going to experience Dolphins in Depth in early Oct. This will be by niece's 21st birthday present. She is nuts about dolphins. I've heard nothing but good things about the program and we are very excited about going. Can't wait.
