Dolphin booked for months for nite I need, any chance I'll get it?

I have reservations for Friday, Dec 12-17th at the Dolphin, but now I need the 11th also. I have called for months and still not one room available for that Thursday nite. I am assuming it is a convention that will check out that Friday. I really don't want to split my stay. How close to convention time will they probably know who is coming and who is not? Any suggestions?

Some thoughts-
1. keep on trying - it's still early enough that a something may open

2. Could you go through Dreams Unlimited and see if they can secure a room?

3. Perhaps going through Starwood reservation # if you are an spg member.

Not having points shouldn't make a difference. I'm wondering if Starwood may hold some rooms separate from the convention coming in - it can't hurt to present your problem to them as an spg. Perhaps they can place you on a wait list - if there is such a thing.

Have you thought about the swan, its only a hop,skip and jump away but it might be a little more expensive. I don't know if they would honor the rate you have at the dolphin.

I was able to get the room I needed for my in-laws, at a discount, no less, via Dreams Unlimited. When I had tried the Dolphin directly they had no availability for the dates I chose. So try DU - they're great!
