Well if anyone is brave the Dolphin has been coming up at $69 and that is even for dates in july.

I am deciding if I am brave enough.

Well I was brave and I got it. 2 rooms for 2 nights July 9-11. Comes to $80 each room per night after taxes etc. You sure cant beat that!

Of course there is also the resort fee to deal with when we get there but it is still an awesome deal.

CONGRATULATIONS, Diane! That is an awesome price for the Dolphin! If it were coming up for that price in May, I think I would go ahead and try for it. :) Is it just for July?

Wow, great rates. What are the odds that I could get 7 nights in June for that rate?

How do I increase my odds to ensure that I get the Dolphin...or am I just taking my chances?

My advice is to keep watching www.biddingfortravel.com and watch if it comes up unless you want to be a guinea pig. I saw that some were getting the Dolphin for July around my dates and went for it. I am not sure if other dates have been showing up but as you know you cross your fingers when you bid too!

Is there anyway to "kind of" tell that it's the Dolphin coming up on Priceline, like you can "kind of" tell on Hotwire?:wave2:

How can you 'kinda tell' on Hotwire? I am trying to get my nerve up and try this for our next next trip... the one after our next trip that is. We are not too fussy about where we stay as long as it is clean. I have been reading up on biddingfortravel lots of great info there...

You can kinda tell on Hotwire by the amenities listed. They do give you the price and the amenities before you accept or not. Go to www.betterbidding.com and I believe there is a list of which amenties match the Dolphin and Swan.

Of course its a bit easier and its more expensive! Some dates in July are coming up for $90-$96 which is still a good deal but not as good as on Priceline, probably because of the "mystery"!

Didn't see this until this morning! I too, took a chance and got a great deal on the Dolphin through PriceLine. Middle of July for 7 nights @ $69/night. ($89.20 per night after taxes and fees plus resort fee = true cost)

I'm pretty happy... I used Hotwire to see how many 4 star hotels were coming up for my dates, and only one was... the Dolphin!

It is DEFINITELY a risk, and my stomach was in knots each of the 3 times I placed a bid (I even closed my eyes while it was searching!)

I have only seen winnning bids coming up for the Dolphin in June and July at this time.

Good Luck everyone else who is thinking of trying this!

If you try to get the Dolphin or Swan and you fail what happens? Do you get some other hotel or does you bid get rejected? And if it is a different hotel, which ones have been coming up?

Thanks

The other hotels that have previously come up in the Resort Category in the Disney World Vicinity on Priceline are Swan, Dolphin, Wyndham Palace, Marriott Orlando World Center, Hilton at DTD and Gaylord Palms.

None are guaranteed, but if you see that someone else got a certain hotel during your dates your chances of getting that hotel are improved.

Can someone explain to me how I could find out what is available when I want to go, or how I would put in a bid.
I went to all the sites listed and all they show is topic groups about who got what resort for what amount.
I would be interested in Dolphin for March 26th through the 30th if it is available.
I see that Hilton is listed as a 4 star also but I would not want to stay at Hilton. I stayed there last month and was not happy with the noises housleeping made pushing carts in the hallways at 7 am every morning. To me the noise at the Hilton was like staying at the AS in the busiest resort with cheerleaders. Peggie

Peggie,

There is absolutely no way to tell if any particular hotel will come up for any particular dates. You can occasionally guess at the possibility of a hotel you want coming up, based upon other bids for the same dates (as we've seen people here doing for June/July dates); but if that is not ironclad. You could still end up at one of the other hotels listed for the area in which you bid.

If you are not willing to accept ALL of the 4 star hotels Priceline lists in a particular area, you should not bid on it. Period.
