I went to this a couple of weeks ago, and was very disappointed. It cost more than MVMCP and as much as dinner for the Candlelight Processional.

Some people have raved about how great the food was. It certainly wasn't bad but great - no. The biscuit was very good. The small roast chicken was fine, one slice of roasted pork - a little dry, one small ear (think frozen) of corn, and a half of a roast potato -overcooked like it had been sitting on a warmer too long. Also a small bowl of potato soup - good but no better than most canned soups. The dessert (an apple turnover) was very good.

I don't know what the "no utensils" thing is about. I know at the Medieval Times dinners it's because people did not use utensils back then, but I can assure you that people in the South do use utensils to eat.

I thought the show was pretty cheesy. I was in the first row so I saw a lot of detail - very bad lip synching for the singing. The Christmas costumes were pretty lame. I've been to Branson, MO once and the shows there spend a LOT more time and money on costuming and sets.

I'm a sucker for almost any kind of a Christmas show, but this one left me cold.

Don't waste your money.

DH and I went on 12/13 and would not go back. Although we thought the show was entertaining. For the price it was not worth it!

I was really put off by the way the guests were moved through like cattle and DH and I thought it was pretty gross the way they come along at the end of the meal and just throw your dirty dishes in a bus bin.

Also we read the menu as soft drinks included but when we ordered 2 Pepsi's in the lounge before the show they were $4 each! Also tips are not included (another $10) and there is no alcohol is served.

So $44 a person, all of a sudden becamer $54/person. I recently had braces put on so I asked for cutlery so you can get it.

I compared it to the Hoop Dee Doo which is $45 as well but includes gratuity and all you can drink alcohol.

This is one of those places that gives me the impression it was built in Orlando solely to capture visitors dollars. It is ridiculous to imply that cutlery is not necessary in this setting. I find the no alcohol issue to be problematic. I don't have to have a drink with every meal, but I don't like to be told by the establishment that I can't have one.

All non-issues for me in the long run. I find the name so offensive, I wouldn't be caught dead in there. :(

You are so wise. I was driving back from the outlet mall by myself (my friend was arriving the next morning) and saw it. I thought "Oh it might be nice to see hear some Christmas music" and I just stopped in. Thank goodness I didn't take any friends.

The sad part is that I had an emergency appendectomy 48 hours later and didn't get to do anything else on the trip.

DVC~OKW~96, just currious... what is it about the name that you find offensive?

I'm a Yankee by upbringing (1st 34 years of my life) and a southerner at heart (for the last 6 years). I don't understand your comment.

Dixie means, "the Southern states of the U.S." The name, Dixie Stampede, suggests that you could expect to see a show with animals and a southern flair. IMHO, that's pretty accurate.

I haven't seen the Christmas show so could not comment on its quality. We saw the regular DPDS show in Pigeon Forge, TN last year and enjoyed it. In PF, it's ~$35 + 11% tax (~$39), rather than ~$46 in Orlando where labor costs more. $42 incl tax is relatively easy to get online for Orlando. Compared with Disney's Hoop De Doo Revue ($49 incl tax + tip), the pricing is similar. DPDS is easier to reach by car (no transfer bus w/standing room only, no waiting in the rain or bad weather at the bus stop or outside the venue) and offers a fun preshow. We preferred the entertainment overall and the food quality at DPDS.

IMHO, all dinner shows have the problem of serving large numbers of people simultaneously and the food suffers some for that. Both of these shows are overpriced and both are most fun for people who are willing to let themselves get involved, despite the silliness and pretense of the program. While there are some people who return to HDDR or DPDS every year, we've BTDT with both - I think they're both worth seeing once. It's a shame the Christmas show doesn't sound as such.

It's the attendant connotations to Dixie that offend me to the core. Not necessarily a topic for a Disney board. Just a comment on my personal position.
