I’m looking at a car for next week. I am picking up in Fort Lauderdale (spending a few days in southern FL) and then driving it up state and dropping it in Orlando.

When I go to the Dollar OR Thrifty website both the compact and the “wild card / lock low and go” are showing a $1 / day rate where all the other rates are showing ~ $200 / week. This has been present for the last few days. Is this a system glitch? I booked the “lock low and go” on Dollar. Will this rate be honored? Has anyone seen this before?

In case you want to look it is pick up FLL on 3-4 and drop at MCO on 3-10. Both Dollar and Thrifty have the rate. I have never seen anything like it ever before.

It came up for me too, so weird! My only guess is that they need cars moved from FLL to MCO? No idea, but I can't see why they wouldn't honor it. Lucky duck!!

Wow! Book it man! I got a crazy good "repositioning" deal with Budget last year for a mini van. Pick up in St. Pete airport and drop off in Orlando/MCO... I think it was like 16 days for $90 after taxes and fees. They need to get the cars from one spot to next many times and customers luck out!

Came up for me too. The compact cars were also showing up at the $1 per day as well. Good deal. I'd take it and maybe book another rate (which seems more real) just in case?

Thanks. I can't imagine why they wouldn't honor either but just in case, I did book another car with Avis (much better rates than the others from Dollar). I still think it is a system glitch but it has been showing for about 2-3 days now so who knows.

Yes, that.

They do this every once in a while for one-way rentals to high volume locations like Orlando. I've seen $10 rentals and $1 rentals from time to time. It's a lot less expensive for them than to have to send staff members between airports and then have to fly them back.

Wow, glad I saw this thread. Looks like its the same price from MIA too.
Had MIA to MCO booked through Alamo for $222 for midsize for my son March 2-9. Just booked Dollar for same dates for $67 ($7 for rental + $60 taxes)
