Can anyone tell me about Dollar Rental Car at MCO (good & bad experiences)? I have been on their website and from watching the boards, good deals seem to be found there, although nothing for me yet as I am not going until August. The KISS2 Code is only valid through 12/31/06. From your previous experience, is it worth becoming a Dollar Express Member?

I use Dollar at MCO and never have a problem. And, yes, you should join Dollar Exress. It doesn't cost anything. It allows you to skip the line altogether at some airports. Sadly, not at MCO, but you do get your own line which is much faster. And, best of all, your paperwork is all pre-printed, so you don't have to spend 10-minutes as the sales clerk tries to talk you into upgrades and insurance.

I just used the KISS2 code to rent a convertible for our June 2007 and October 2007 trips and it worked both times giving me a rate of $168.99 before taxes and fees for a week. Try it on your dates and see what comes up. I have never rented from them before but for the price, I am willing to try!

Just used Dollar last weekend. This was the first time I felt like smacking one of their clerks ;) Very rude and pushy with the insurance and gas. Tried to charge more than I booked for. I will for sure sign up for the Dollar Express next time I use them. It would be worth it to not have to deal with the rudeness! Other than that, the line was short and we were upgraded without asking for it, from a full size to a mini van. Good luck!

I have used Dollar on our last three trips, and had no problems whatsoever. Each time we rented a minivan, and I believe the second of those trips we were given a regular length Caravan instead of an extended Grand Caravan. I went back to the attendent in the garage, and within 5 minutes had a Grand Caravan.

I would definitely sign up for Dollar Express because you can have your preferences automatically stored in their system. This way you don't have to go through the process of being asked to take the insurance, which you shouldn't need. Be certain, however, to check your personal insurance or credit card company to make sure that you are covered one way or another.

I've used Dollar a couple of times in the past with satisfactory results.

Definitely join Dollar Express.

One small problem I once had with Dollar is that when you rent from them, they put a hold on your credit card of $250, no matter how much your rental cost will be - even if you are only renting for one day and your total is less than $50, they put a hold of $250 on your credit card. This can be a problem if your card doesn't have enough available credit on it.

Aside from that, Dollar is a good company and I've gotten clean, well-maintained cars and nice agents whenever I've rented from them.

According to mousesaver's website, the KISS2 code was only valid through 12/31/06. Has that code been extended into 2007? Thanks everyone - I will plug my dates in to see what I get (after I sign up for the Express program) and will let you know.

Guys:
I decided to try it before leaving work (still did not sign up yet for Express Program). I am coming up with a rate of 381.96 before fees/taxes and $473.77 after all is said and done.

My dates are 8/5 thru 8/15/07. It is showing the weekly rate at 249.99, plus 3 extra days at 43.99/each.

Any suggestions? Are you putting anything under Corporate # as well? I am a AAA member - would that help? :confused3

we've been using this code for awhile,

We've used Dollar for many years now (and again in 7 days! :woohoo: ) and always had a good experience with them.We also belong to Dollar Express as it really does speed everything up for you. :)

We always seem to get higher rates when we first book and then when I keep checking I always get a better rate and then I just go onto my reservation and modify it to the newer rates without any problems. And yes we used the KISS2 code this year and right now we have a full size for $118.99 per week which we think is great. :thumbsup2

A couple of years ago we were involved in a hit and run with our rental car (while we were in picking up dinner theatre tickets :sad2: ) and Dollar was very good about everything. :sunny:

Thank you all. I have Dollar reserved for SATURDAY
I have a minivan for the week with taxes, fees, etc. for $204 which I thought is a great rate (I too used the KISS code).
Anyway, I have not joined Dollar Express but will now do so either tonight or tomorrow after I drop the kids off to school. Thank you. This will make it even faster to get to Disney :cool1:

I also signed up for Dollar Express (got my card yesterday) and used the KISS2 code to book a car for 9 days in January 2007. However, I didn't know that if another code surfaces with a cheaper rate, that I can adjust my reservation using the new code. Cool!

My personal experience with Dollar is that they are very good in Orlando. I have had numerious problems with them on the west coast (San Francisco, Oakland and Burbank come to mind) ranging from over pricing to horrible cars and rude agents. I wouldn't hessitate to use them again in Orlando, but be selective on how you use them in other locations. I have switched to Hertz for all my rentals and have nothing but great luck, although they are offsite at MCO, usually resulting in me using Dollar or National....

I have tried to put in for a car and it keeps saying none are available for Jan 10-16. I don't know why it won't work when I use a code.

Gotta sign up for Dollar Express!!!

One of the best rental experiences in Orlando to date. I was in and done in about 3 minutes. It was amazing. They even gave me two keys, one of which I could give to my husband.

My last experience was with Alamo and I will never go with them again. The keys were hardwired together and not able to be separated. (I like giving DH a key, just in case). Alamo's agents were too hard sell. I saw one lady in the parking lot crying because of the horrific experience she had with one agent.

GO DOLLAR!!

You have no idea how happy I am to read all of these comments!! I just signed up for Dollar Express and used the KISS2 code and was able to secure an economy car for 9 days in December for a projected total of $197.00.... all others were coming in at least at $330 (using codes too!). Thanks for making me calmer about using a car rental company that I've never used before.

You're probably getting that message because the code you are trying to use expires in December. Check the fine print at the bottom of the screen and it will likely say the code is good through 12/14/06. I believe they will come out with codes (probably even the same letters) for January and February sometime in the next month.

We are renting a van from dollar. Is there a way to request a certain mini-van that has the carseat built in? I don't want to stand at the counter and ask this question....they then may try to make me rent one from them for a lot of money.... maybe I should just bring ours along with us and save the aggravation??? any suggestions? (and yes, I used the kiss2 code and signed up for their card....)
Thanks :goodvibes
