We a leaving in 2 days (8 day rental)!

Dollar at this point is $75 cheaper than National. Very disappointed in Alamo - rental rates are highest I have ever seen for October!

We have Dollar Express and we have our own SunPass. I do not want to pay Dollar's $8 per day charge/$42 per rental for Pass24. How do I opt out using Dollar Express? As I understand it, we head straight to the garage (bypass the counter) and our car is already assigned. Do we just let the gate attendant know we want to opt out? Any way to verify we will not be charged?

I really prefer National/Alamo. :sad1: Dollar likes to try up the rental revenue with a lot of extra fees! I used Dollar Express in Las Vegas and got assigned a very nice Maxima with 5K miles (premium). What full size cars are typically assigned at MCO?

Thanks!

If you have a Sunpass and you install it in your rental car, the highway toll sensors will detect that first and won't do the "toll-by-plate" lookup that would tie the car back to Dollar and to you.

Last few trips we didn't even log into the Sunpass website to register the rental car, just verified that the tolls were taken from our pass/account and then verified that the tolls were not on the receipt upon returning the car.

We've had mixed luck with Dollar's assigned Full cars - they are I think typically Maximas but if there aren't any available as has happened to us a few times, we get bumped up to a Ford crown vic or a Jeep Liberty.

Maximas are Premiums. Altimas are full size. Crown Vics are not longer in play, they stopped making them. Libertys are SUVs. I think they would get an Altima, Malibu or Impala or something similar.

I am a Dollar express member and just recently bought a sunpass transponder, so this is the first time I will use it. When I turn in my car - will the printed receipt (the one I get from the return attendant) have whether or not I was charged tolls. Or where do I look for that information.

I am from NY but was going to order an EPass to use in my rentals as we go to Florida every year and I don't want to pay a fee to rental company for days I don't need.

Has anyone ever done this? What do I need to do? Figured adding $25 to the pass would cover me for 2 years of use and it would be nice to not have to drive through the toll booths with coins.

I did it this year - I bought the transponder - it is linked to my personal car and put 25.00 on the account for tolls. I figured that I would just update my account with the rental car tag number when I got to florida.

Oh, ok, so you have to register the tag to a car? I know we will only be using it on rentals. So will I be able to order a tag without registering it to a car?

You can register it to your own car when you order the transponder, then just go on line and add the rental car when you get it. You specify that it's a rental and the dates you will be using it. Very easy, we've used the Sunpass for 4 years now on our WDW trips and love having it.
