dole whips - changed?

A dole whip float made with vanilla SS.... oh yeah... come to mama!!! :rotfl2:

Ok, I've had the chemical soup before; nothing can compare to a giant Italian pineapple gelato, which I enjoyed this weekend in hot steamy Italy (the real one, not the Epcot one). Real ingredients and oooooooooh so good! :)

Somehow I don't think that artificial sweeteners are the only concern! Mmmm chemicals! ;) It does however appear they have added corn syrup for your enjoyment.

Whew, that's a relief! Bring on the additives and chemicals, I can handle those. As long as sugar's still the first ingredient in there, I'm good!

I hate that funky aftertaste that comes with artificial sweeteners.

I had a pineapple gelato in St. Augustine after a trip to WDW. No comparison! The gelato wins!!! :p

The problem likely was that the person who made the mix didn't use the right amounts. They probably didn't not put enough water in it.

Thanks everyone! We will try it again in February 09. As a pp said maybe the mixture was skewed. I just know that between Mar 08 and June 08 something happened to either the Dole Whip or our taste buds and/or memories. Both of us were disappointed in June 08.

Yeah, artificial sweeteners are the least of one's concerns considering the ingredients.

I adore you bavaria. Because you unwittingly quoted me. I did the "edit" of the wikipedia page, b/c list of ingredients they had on there was wrong. :)

I had to go looking when my son had a corn syrup reaction after eating half of a whip, and found those blasted corn syrup solids. And it was peeving me that the wiki page was SO wrong. So now, even though it still has the old info, at least it also has the right info!

OP, I discovered the list of ingredients in around, oh, December, I think. So it's *possible* they went from the one list of chemicals to the other between your last trip and recently.

Your son has these "major" reactions to corn syrup and you trust wikipedia for your information? Any moron can edit on that site. If you are truly worried about ingredients you'd better look for something more reliable.

Googled Dole Whip.
Found Wiki page. Saw mention of Dole softserve website.
Went to Dole softserve website, found ingredient list.
Noticed the ingredients were different than on wiki.
Made my own edit of wiki, citing new ingredients on product's website.

Product's website is always the end place for me, when figuring things out when there are no ingredient lists. But sometimes you have to go through a few steps to FIND product's website.

Editing to wonder...are you calling me a moron? I had SAID I made an edit, and you said any moron can make an edit. Odd!

Editing more...and why the quoted major? I didn't put "major" in my post, though I have elsewhere, and if you've seen me post it elsewhere you know they are big reactions AND you know how much gol darn WORK I do to find the ingredients of EVERYTHING that goes into his mouth. Though it's only been since July of '07, and alas, trips to Disneyland are what found quite a lot of the problem foods (who knew that Uncrustables were full of crud? but it did explain DS's behaviour at the zoo when he used to have those sandwiches, once I read the label). So if you know they are major, you know how hard I work to keep him from eating those, and I just don't understand why you would post such a thing.

bavaria, I always feel so bad for people from other, more sane, countries when coming to the US. YOu think you're getting junk food with sugar and such, when you're getting crud like HFCS and whatnot, which is something created in a lab.

There are a bunch of Australians on the Disneyland board right now and I just want to tell them what's in the "food" that's served there, especially the "kid" food, so that they will know what they are choosing to eat, instead of just assuming it's all nice and simple sugar. :upsidedow
