What are Dole Whips and where do you get them? Also, we have PS for the Backyard Barbecue but I am starting to have reservations about what some reviewers have sad about food, pushng and the heat. Is this a fun place for an 11 year old? Also, we are looking for breakfast places that won't cost 3 people $40, not a character meal and not a buffet - just a place on site where you can sit and have a stack of pancakes and a cup of coffee. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi gogiant! I can help with your Dole Whip question. Dole Whips are soft-serve pineapple ice cream. Actually, it's not really ice cream, more like sorbet. However you describe them, I absolutely love them, and I'm sure you've noticed I'm not alone in this! :D You can get a regular pineapple Dole Whip, a pineapple-and-vanilli-ice-cream Dole Whip, or a Dole Whip float. I prefer the regular pineapple and my DH prefers the pineapple and vanilla swirled. For such a simple snack, these things are really addictive! I think it's a combination of the fact that they're so light and refreshing, plus they remind us of WDW!

You can try a Dole Whip at Aloha Isle, a counter in Adventureland in Magic Kingdom. It's across from the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse. If you're there in June, maybe you'll see me there since I plan on having several Dole Whips!

Hi.

For simple breakfast spots I'd recommend Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. It's a sit down restaurnat with great breakfast items. You might also want to check out www.wdwig.com for restaurant menus to see what the different places ofer. I don't know if there's a place in the MK where you can sit down for breakfast. There are probably more options at the resorts than at the theme parks if you're not looking for a character meal.

Anyway, hope this helps a bit.

Dole Whips are actually nondairy! I used to sell them in my sweet shoppe. Last week I had a regular Dole Whip float and on day 2 @ the MK, had a Dole Whip/Vanilla Swirl float! They were both excellent!

do they have dole whips at the other parks as well, or just MK?

Don't forget the various food courts for regular breakfast fare. I had really terrific pancakes at the AllStarMusic food court in Dec. If you hit the food courts at off times, you'll miss the crowds.

Good idea! My best friend had the chocolate chip pancakes at POP last week (the rest of us missed out, because we went to the beach!). She said they were fabulous and is still talking about them!

Please don't flame me, but I didn't really like the Dole whip I had in Oct. It tasted too artificual or acidic to me. I know many of you absolutely love them, but I'd much rather an ice cream from Main Street.

Flame you for having different tastes? No way! ;) I know what you mean, I had looked forward to a beavertail and when I had one, it was a complete letdown!

Oh, I much prefer ice cream over Dole Whip, but I can get ice cream anywhere! (Which I did several nights at Marble Slab Creamery! )
