Dole Whip Question

I was wondering if there was a difference between Dole Whip people talk about at Disney and Dole Soft Serve. I ask because the soft serve place 4 doors down from my house sells Dole Soft Serve and I was wondering if it was the same. I have never had a Dole Whip, but plan to take care of that on my next trip, but in the meantime I was wondering if it was the same stuff. It doesn't hurt that the family who runs the soft serve place near me are huge Disney fans. Thanks for any insight.

It very well could be the same thing, you can now purchase the mix from a couple of suppliers online and make your own, having a frozen yogurt/ice cream machine would greatly speed up the process and the mix is designed to work in those. It really isn't frozen yogurt, it's a non dairy dessert mix like soft serve. I would ask the shop owners if they are Disney nuts they should know what a dole whip is.

If it's branded as Dole soft serve and it's pineapple flavored - that's the same thing :) A place around here had it for a while, and it was exact. I was in heaven! :D

Where in WDW do you get one ????

Dole Whips are available at Aloha Isle snack bar in Adventureland. You can get the soft serve Dole Whip by itself or you can get a Dole Whip float, which is the soft serve in pineapple juice (delicious). They also have vanilla flavored soft serve, root beer (I think... maybe it's only cola) floats, etc.

You can also get Dole Whip soft serve at Captain Cook's (Polynesian resort), but they don't have floats there. It's soft serve only. On the plus side, it is a self-serve machine, so you don't have to worry about getting a skimpy portion. ;) Actually, when I've gotten them from WDW or DL, it was always heaped pretty tall (although sometimes the swirling makes it hollow inside, so you can avoid that at least when dispensing it yourself).

Its the same thing.

They changed the name maybe because it sounds too much like Dream Whip or Cool Whip. While whip sounds cool it really doesn't describe what it is Soft Serve Frozen Dessert.

It seems WDW still calls it Dole Whip.

Oh and I have the Pineapple and the Vanilla flavors at home.

Thanks for the insight. The soft serve place near me rotates though about 6 or 7 flavors of it and I love the pineapple flavor and the other flavors are good also, but the pineapple is just the best. I will have to have some in WDW and have the float. :-)

There is a small ice cream shop near me that also sells Dole soft serve and rotates different fruit flavors weekly. I always want to bring a glass of pineapple juice and order a pineapple soft serve from them and mix it...but my fiance tells me that Dole Whips wouldn't be special if we could get them all the time. I guess he's right. :sad2:

We have a mouse meet here in the Pacific Northwest each summer, and they sell Dole Whip. Yumm!

We serve Dole Whip at my ice cream stand in Denmark Maine, it is so popular and so...good. Everyone loves it and can't believe they found it in Maine. Just started serving it late last year and quickly was the most popular item.

:cheer2: I'm in Maine!! Where is this Dole soft serve location? I need a fix :)

Same question here from a fellow Mainer. I was under the impression that Dole Whip was available in very very few locations, one I had read about and sought out on a recent trip was in Lake George, NY near Six Flags. If it is available right in Portland area that is going to be great.

How in the world did you find an almost 3 year old thread?

-AND- as of a few months ago:

Dole Whips are also available at the Sunshine Tree Terrace, the snack window located on the outside eastern wall of MK's Tiki Room.
Dole Whips are also available at Tamu Tamu Refreshments in Animal Kingdom’s Africa.

This has recently changed. There is now a stand outside the Captain Cook, that only serves Dole whip. I had one yesterday. I asked him to make it large and boy, was it big! It was 4 inches taller than the cup, plus the 2 inches depth of the cup. I enjoyed every mouthful. I'm sure there were dole floats there too.

They have Dole Whip at Dutch Wonderland amusement park in Lancaster, PA. I thought I was seeing things when I saw it there, because I thought it was something you could only get in Disney.
