I just can't decide what resort to book, would really appreciate some insight from the experts.
We are coming next year (from Australia), arrive on 27 Feb (me, my husband and our daughter (4) and son (almost 2)), we are looking to spend 6 nights at disney and currently are planning on getting a 3 day pass and visiting MK, Epcot and HS, we are going to NASA for 1 day and would like another day to relax and break up the stimulation for the kids.
I just can't decide on what resort, i'm currently torn between;
  • Wilderness lodge (renting DVC points)
  • Port Orleans riverside
  • Beach club or Boardwalk
we would like something that isn't super expensive but has decent transport so 1 of us can go back out at night once the kids are asleep.
I did consider AOA but their family suites were more expensive than I could work the options above and they were closer with different transport options.

advice would be greatly appreciated.

Based on your itinerary and desires -- I don't think you can go wrong with wither BC/YC/BWI -- you have walk in/boat in access to both Epcot and DHS -- plus you have the boardwalk as well. So, even on the detox day (break up stimulation), you can take the kids for a walk around the boardwalk, explore whichever of the resorts at Epcot that you are not staying at (including swan and dolphin). The only downside staying at an Epcot resort versus magic kingdom will be that you have to take a bus to Magic Kingdom. Or take the monorail to/from the MK from Epcot, please be aware that you would need park hoppers as you would have to walk through Epcot from one end, to the monorail at the other end and reverse that on the return trip. I'm not sure if you could take a bus from an Epcot resort to the other side of Epcot to get the monorail -- perhaps others can elaborate.

With the age of your children I would find a way to work Animal Kingdom into to your trip. Given the current status of HS, if you can, I'd do that instead. There is sooooo much for younglings at AK. The shows about Nemo and Lion King are perfect for the age you're kids are. The animal trails.........are just awesome.

As far as resort..........The Epcot resorts you have listed are very nice and do give you some flexibility in access. I love Wilderness Lodge but I don't believe the construction will be complete at the time you're going. However the pool at that resort is new (redone in 2015) and has a great splash area for kids.

Have a great trip whatever you decide.

There is no morning bus from the Epcot resorts to the front of Epcot.
I too would look at staying at the YC/BC for the location. They are lovely resorts. But both would be more expensive than AoA Family suite. You can rent DVC points for either BCV or BWV, if available.
Storm Along Bay is the best pool on property and it has a large, shallow sand area that would be perfect for your little ones to play in. It would be great for your rest day. And with the proximity to Epcot one adult could easily walk there after the little ones are asleep.
Enjoy your trip

I would definitely choose BWI or BC. The convenience to EP and DHS cannot be beat and they are fabulous resorts. We love the standard rooms but you may want to look into the villas as well for extra space!

Considering you're having a few down time days, I'd definitely recommend Epcot Resorts (BC/YC/BWI). Lots of stuff to do in that area, love Fantasia Gardens mini golf. Also with Epcot resort you'll only have to do the bus once to MK. Easy walk/boat ride to Epcot and HS.

I don't think you'd be disappointed with any Epcot Resort! :thumbsup2

I wouldn't want to come from Australia for a potential construction zone, so I'd cross VWL off the list.

I agree with others about the Epcot-area resorts.

Definitely go for Storm Along Bay! My kids loved the zero entry "sand" area of the Storm Along Bay pool when they were at the same age as your two. Do be aware that WDW resort "sand" is a larger grained smooth "sand" that doesn't build amazing sand castles, but neither does it stick to everything.

With the age of your children I would definitely recommend Animal Kingdom over HS. There is so much more for little ones there. We love Port Orleans but have not experienced BC or BW. We like the fact you can boat to Disney Springs on your down day. Enjoy your trip!

Thankyou for your advice, staying at an epcott resort sounds like the best plan, so is BC the winner due to the pool??? Is there much in between for the resort theming that the kids would find more appealing between BC and BW?? my plan is to rent points and go with DVC.
