We are planing to go to WDW staying at Saratoga Spring for 2 nights in June, We want to visit some of the other resorts and enjoy the things to do at our resort. We are considering not going to the parks since we will be going in Nov. w/Family for 5 days and will do all the parks then. This will be our 10th or 11th trip to WDW and we have been to all the parks several times. So I thought we would save money and try to eat and visit places we have never been. However, I do feel like I'm cheating myself by not visiting any parks.

HELP!! What do you think?

I tgghink is kind of a wat

Do what you like, but I never would bother with a trip to WDW without a theme park or two.

I don't know where you live.
I have to fly down from the middle of the country.

We really enjoy "doing" all the resorts, DTD, and Boardwalk, but I wouldn't want to spend ALL my time doing that.

Heck, we were just down for 11 days in Jan/Feb. of this year (couple of months ago) and we're flying in again Wed. (day after tomorrow) for 8 more. :thumbsup2

I obviously don't get tired of the parks. :goodvibes

You're coming back for "just" 5 days to do "all" the parks?
Wow. :rotfl:

But you posted this "no parks" idea, so I guess you might enjoy it.
Its certainly up to you.
Let us know what you decide. ;)

Why go to Disney and not do Disney is my question, but to each his own! We have the luxury of AP's so I'll go in to a park and just ride one ride, or shop for something particular in a park and go back to our "home away from home". If that's what you are comfortable with, do it....it does sound to me like you would like to visit at least one park while you're there however...or you wouldn't be asking! Touring the hotels and DTD is great too....I've done that during my stays, but I always wind up in at least one of the parks if not all four!

Friends of ours are leaving on Friday and had that same thing in mind. They were going to just sit around the pool or take in some of the resorts without going to any of the parks. As they kept thinking about it they have decided that they are going to do some of the parks but not to the extent that they normally would. So this way they will still get plenty of relaxing in and still get to visit some of the resorts that they haven't seen.

Well, I say if you are not going to parks and still want some disney feel to your vacation. You can always plan a few meals (character) at some of the resorts.

I think it's a great idea, especially since you will only be there for a few days and since you will be returning within a few months! We've recently seen the wisdom in your line of thinking!

We usually just visit Orlando for a long weekend in the fall (we attend HHN at Universal every year) and stay at Disney about every other year. We've seen/done the parks over the past five years but have often returned home with a disappointed feeling as though we never really got to enjoy that resort we paid through the teeth for. Starting with our last visit at AKL, we now only spend two of our four days at a park & take the rest of the time to "smell the roses" as they say. We're looking forward to visiting Epcot this fall but more so to enjoying our resort, BW, and some of the neighboring resorts.

For two days, I say go park free - there will be plenty to do and you just might be surprised how great a time you can have outside of the parks!

Have a great time (on both your trips!)

didn't notice where you live but i 'd never go and not go to my fav of the parks..imo there are other just as nice or nicer places to go just to swim etc

I'm all for it. Have a good time. Crique Du Soleil is awesome. Downtown Disney is a nice time. You could hit Wilderness Lodge for a show or horseback ride. Hit a spa, play some golf, visit the sports complex or just ride the monorail a little. Good luck and have fun.

We're planning to do the same thing on our trip in August. We're staying on-site for the first time (with free dining). We'll be there for 10 nights and we're only planning on doing the parks for two days. We'll also do the waterparks for a few days (mainly because it will be so HOT when we're there) and spend the rest of the time at our resort (POR) and the other resorts where we have TS ADRs. We'll be back in October and plan to visit the parks more then. Have a great trip!

I would never be able to stop myself from visiting a park if I went to Disney. The theme parks are Disney to me. Maybe just visit your favorite park, but don't spend all of your time there. I completely understand wanting to do other things. I try for that every time, but I just can't get over how much I want to be in the parks. Do whatever you want to do though. In the end, it is your vacation and you know what will make you happy.

I am sure there is enough to do without going in any parks, but like everyone else I don't think that I would be able to be so close and no go in!!

I am sure it can be done, and I am sure you will have a great time :teeth:

ARGH! I could never do that knowing that Disney isn't that far away and not going to it!! I bet you'll find yourself saying, "oh lets go..just for one day" :rotfl:

If I knew that I had another trip planned in the future, I would do it. Last year, we stayed for 13 nights at WDW and the first 6 were spent not going to the theme parks and doing averything else Disney had to offer. We did go the the waterparks, campfire at Ft Wilderness, visit the resorts, Boardwalk, DTD, rent the sea raycers and watch Wishes from the Poly beach. It was so much fun!

On day 7 when my whole package of tickets and dining started, we were rearing to go and we visited the parks.

If I lived close enough, this is something I would do regularly. The parks are fun, but Disney has so much to offer, why not take advantage of it!
