Since we are moving our free dining ressie :sad1: to March 2008 :cool1: I have a question. We have decided to do a split holiday. Part of the holiday is at POR and then we have to somehow get to port to do a DCL cruise. Since we are not doing a land/sea package what is the best way for a family of five to get to port and then back to the Orlando airport to fly home?

Second question. If we were to do a land/sea package could we add on extra days or is it set in stone?

Is it cheaper to book them seperately or together or does it not make a difference?

TIA

Hi! :goodvibes

When you make the DCL reservation, specify that you need the transfers to be from the resort to port, then port to MCO. They will just need to know which resort you'll be staying at (POR).

They will pick you up at the resort, even though your package is not booked as a land/sea package. :thumbsup2

You can use the Magical Express to get from the airport to the POR at the beginning of your package!

It may be cheaper to get a town car/limo service. I'm doing a similar thing for my vacation and for our family of 3 it ended up being the same price for disney transport or a town car so we choose disney for the environment. At 5 it would definatly be cheaper to get your own transportation.

This is of course only if the extra money is an issue

We took Magical Express to the resort then, later during our WDW stay, picked up a pre-arranged rental car from the Budget location at the Doubletree Suites near Downtown Disney and drove out to Port Canaveral. I dropped the family off at the DCL terminal with our luggage and returned the rental car to the Budget location that was about 2 miles from the Port and Budget's shuttle took me back to the DCL terminal. When we got back from our cruise, we rented a car from Budget, drove up to Kennedy Space Center and spend the morning/afternoon there and then drove to MCO and returned the car at the airport.

We are a family of 5, so this was cheaper than taking the DCL transfers and gave us the ability to visit Kennedy Space Center after the cruise.

We did this last November. We stayed at POR for a few days before our Disney Magic cruise. We did not have the land/sea combo. We arranged for the DCL bus to pick us up at our hotel and drive us to the port. It would probably be a lot cheaper to rent a car/car service, but since it was our first DCL cruise, we wanted to stay with the DCL buses.
