doing a black taxi private tour in london

we are on the British Isles cruise and Im looking up things to do in london and came across private tours of London in the Black taxis

just wondering if anyone knows anything about this--you basically make your own schedule of where you want to go and looks like its priced by like they have 2 hr all the way to 10 hrs

price seems a little high but if its a private tour and just doing what we want it sounds like a good way to do this
we were there in 2015 before a cruise and did a grey line tour weve done them before here so figured it would be good in Europe

funny thing is they picked us up at the hotel and took us like the main hub were there were a lot of buses going in all different directions
our tour ended with a cruise on the Thames river but when we got to the end that was the end we had to find our way back to the hotel which seemed really strange
as luck would have it we went into a shop and there was a clerk from Indiana who directed us to where we could get a cab
just seemed odd that they pick you up but dont bring you back

this one actually says pick up and drop off
any thoughts on this or has anyone done anything like this--they are listed as private tours in black taxis
any info or thoughts would be very helpful

Never done one. But those who have left reviews on TripAdvisor have given them a 5-star rating. That said, it does seem to depend on the actual guide (my words, not theirs). Since it is customizable, be sure not to assume anything - like drop-off or changes mid-stream.

We did this through Viator in London last September pre transatlantic. Our driver did a great job showing us around even though it was difficult since the Queen had just past. Highlights were Abbey Road, Paul McCartney's house and Kate Middleton's dress shop. My wife was thrilled. Going again this September.

were on that cruise also--anyways I hope you dont mind but I have a few questions if you dont mind answering
so did you have places in mind or let the driver take you
were staying at a hotel near hyde park so theyll pick us up and take us back
how long did you book the tour for
we have pretty much a good idea of where we want to go--so I list let the driver know where
like for tower of london really all were interested in is the crown jewels so I would buy tickets go through the jewels and the driver waits for us or does he come too
