Doggy Bags After Meals

Hi,

Our little girl tends to have a slightly different eating schedule where she tends to eat after our regular eating times. Do they allow us to take leftovers back to our stateroom after meals or would we need to sneak some tupperwave in with us? I was hoping to maybe package her items up and place them in the minibar fridge so that she might be able to have a snack during those "odd" times. Also, are microwaves readily available or would we need to venture to the food areas to use one?

TIA!

I don't recall seeing a microwave anywhere in a public area onboard. I'm quite sure they aren't available in the cabins.

I don't know why they would have a problem wrapping her food, but I'm not sure why you would bother. Instead jst order from room service when she is ready to eat. The coolers in the room aren't fridges, and I'm not sure that they will keep food cold enough to be safe.

I definately wouldn't take the dinner items with. Food is plentiful on the ship...at the quick serve counters or from room service. I would go that way to make sure it is fresh.

If your little girl is anything like mine when she was little, she'll be living on chicken fingers. These, as well as pizza, hot dogs, burgers are available through room service. They'll arrive hot and fresh when she's ready for her snack. (And they also have delish chocolate chip cookies for dessert.) :D

I don't like to waste food. My inclination is to take any extra from dinner back to the room to have later. I've had to get over that, and you will too. Like others have said, you can have fresh, warm food just about any time of the day. With all of the food available there is not time/room to eat any leftovers.

Just get fresh food when needed, as needed.::yes::

I would agree that the frig in the cabin is more like a cooler. It would not be safe to store cooked food in, would not want your child to get sick. Keep some fruit and maybe some dry boxed cereal in the cabin for a quick snack. You can order room service or find food anytime when your child is hungry.

Consider the 8:30 seating. Everyone can have a snack earlier if they are hungry. Many people like the late seating b/c of less interference with shore excursions (not rushing to get back to the ship). DCL presents the shows early for the late dinner crowd (versus other lines whose shows are late & later) so you wouldn't miss anything. My children eat better later but go for the early seating b/c it is easier to change from early to late than the other way around if I decide to switch.

you paid big $ for this cruise....you should order room service whenever you feel like...

:p Hey thanks for all the replies!

I guess I don't like to let good food go to waste. Whenever we go out to eat here, our kiddie usually doesn't finish her food so we just bring it home for her to munch on later. And yes, she lives on chicken fingers and fries.

It's good to know that food is plentiful and available when you want it. I remember when we went on our Holland America cruise, there were times when food wasn't always available and room service was limited and slow to arrive.

So is it also true that one can order more than one appetizer or main dish per person too? I read about one person who ordered like 3 coconut shrimp appetizers and made a meal out of it. How large are the portions? Can you order half portions of main meals to try a few different things at once?

Yes, you can definitely order more than one appetizer/entree/dessert/etc. I would say the portion sizes are good, not huge. They were just right for me. If you want a bigger portion just ask your server for more, or you can order something else. And yes, you can order half portions of meals if you want to. One night DH and I were both saying we'd like to try the shrimp but didn't want the whole meal. Our terrific server, Philip, offered to add just the shrimp to the entrees we had selected. It was perfect!

Enjoy!
