Dog owners - bark or no bark?

Same. Our Shih Tzu is quiet 99% of the time, but goes nuts at the doorbell.
I have a Shih tzu who literally never barks ever. He’ll whine but never bark. I’ve only ever heard his bark once when someone shut the closet door and didn’t know he was in there, he barked to get let out and we were all so shocked to hear it. He also never sheds which is awesome.

Bark EXCEPT my 2 dogs bark off & on every time they THINK they maybe hear or see something & then someone quietly comes to the door to deliver a package & they miss it & nothing 🙄.

Don't have a dog but we have some neighbors that let their dog bark constantly for no reason at all. Gets really annoying. They let it out in their fenced in yard and it barks at everything that walks by. Seems people would make an effort to train their dogs more. If your dog barks a lot when indoors, that isn't something other neighbors could hear.
Sounds like a bored dog. Do they do anything with it?

The funny thing is she instantly stops at the doorbell when we say Honeybun be quiet. It's like she knows it's safe then 🥰

My little white poodle/maltese/bichon dog barks his head off and we live in an urban area. I wouldn't mind if he only barks when someone walks up the stairs but he barks at everything. I have to tell him "enough" multiple times a day. He usually shuts up when the second or third one finally gets to his high alert brain.

We praise ours when she barks at someone at the door. We put her into a sit-stay, which is also praised, if it’s someone ok. Ours is much more visual than sound triggered. She may bark at the doorbell or a knock, but she’s much much more likely to bark and howl if she sees someone. We rarely use our front door, so she’s more inclined to guard the back door…which may be a good thing because it’s not as obvious as the front door. She is pretty good at picking up moving figures in the dark (if they don’t trigger the floodlights) and she’s also set off by our neighbors when they’re in their yard or 2nd floor deck. She’s a lab shepherd mix and weighs around 70 lbs. Not massive, but she’s got a serious sounding bark and her size spooks friends who are small dog people.

Sounds like our lab - who is "only" 65 lbs, but has a big, deep bark. Scares the daylights out of most of the delivery guys, except UPS. The UPS guys just talk to her and she wags like crazy and stops barking. One time a UPS guy even said "I bet the FedEx guy is afraid of her!" He was right. We've only had guys delivering this season, but she does bark at women too.

We have experienced this as well. Totally agree with how annoying it is.

Our almost 2yo Pit Bull barks at...

1. The sound our phones make when one of us arrives home (Life360 alert).
2. The sound of dishes "clanking" (he thinks it's time to eat).
3. Any delivery person.
4. The cows at our neighbor's house behind us.
5. The deer.
6. Squirrels.
7. The entire neighborhood when he goes outside first thing in the morning. He has to let everyone know he's awake and ready to play.

My dogs bark at everything. No matter what I do I can't get them to stop. I wish they would tone it down.

Our dog barks. We should have named him Barky. We live on a dead-end street but still get deliveries and people walking down the street minding their business. If Christmas carolers showed up he would think he won the barking lottery.
